Ok, I just chunked up 140 dollars for a t3 turbo, with 101k miles on it, complete with tubing, waste gate, and the elbow for the down pipe, a Distr., a coil, and a starter solenoid. I am also trying to close a good deal on an e6 Manny. Anyone know where I can get studs for it? It is missing 1 stud. This means I just need to get a BAP sensor, somepiping, and an intercooler, before the ranger gets force fed, on cast pistons!
My goal is to keep the n/a rotating assy. together long enough on 10 lbs of force fed induction, till I can get my kickass forged 5.5 inch rod/piston assy. bought, and installed into the other block. Hopefully, it will be done at the end of the summer, and I can swap over, and run 20 lbs of boost in the ranger. Then, I am buying up a new car, and letting the ranger get retired :-p.(Or, maybe I will do the same work, to my 2nd motor, and have a beater beast, and a hot to trot beast =D)

Lol, of the ranger? It is a 1990 ranger XLT, blue, with an argent stripe down the side, with rust on the bed wheel wells, and uhm, lots of dents, dings, and major scuffs in the paint :-p.
I don't need info, I need a stud for the manny. LOL.
RE: Woop! Force feeding the ranger on cheap parts!
sweet,i've always wanted to do an NA-T just to see how long it would last, one of the fast 2.3 guys (actually 2.0 on his new car, fast=10's) warned me about 5.5 rods, it sits the rings up higher on the piston and isnt as durable he said, more likely to break the ringlands i think
5.2 is stock but i'm sure you'll be fine

RE: Woop! Force feeding the ranger on cheap parts!
Really? I heard that about the 5.7 rods, not the 5.5 Maybe he is confusing them? the 5.5 still uses the 3ring setup, and it isn't higher on the pistons, tha I saw, I just saw the skirt being shorter, and the wrist pin being much higher in the skirt. I think i will still run the 5.5 when I do the build up, to let you all know. If it doesn't work, i guess it doesn't work.
Mr. Merk, where have you been? I've been missing your posts lately :-p. I just got my turbo/distr/coil today, so i just need some feed/return lines, a rotated upper intake, some of the rubber boost lines (for my boost gauge, and the turbo, the ones on there are starting to dry rot, but no biggie, the turbo sat for a while, but the rotor show ZERO play, which is amazing for being 101k miles.) and the piping i am welding together for the turbo to intake.
I think I need 150 on a good FMIC, 135 on the intake, and like another 150 in misc parts, such as the hoses, piping, and couplers, yada yada yada. So, another 350 bucks, and the ranger is going to be n/a to turbo force fed.
I plan to run just the stock 10lbs and have it fly. Keep you all posted.
