View Full Version : Sticking Gas Pedal Solution YAY!!!
edgespeeder06 02-17-2007, 03:51 PM Took mine into ford service dealer in NJ, one of the best and they've been running tests and told me that it looks like i need a whole new throttle body which wont be in until tuesday but thats really good! So for anyone else with this problem bring it in so that they can replace it before you crash your stangs like the 4 out of 17 reports i found.
Mod any chance we can make this a sticky? or something. Thanks
edgespeeder06 02-17-2007, 03:54 PM too bad i dont think i could get them to install something better and pay the difference lol http://www.americanmuscle.com/gms-2005v6-70mm-throttlebody-natural.html
sw07gt 02-17-2007, 04:04 PM Haha wonder if xbone still thinks your making it up.
I don't think this has anything to do with floor mats at all. Some cases, maybe, but not all. I'm glad a Ford dealership has recognized this problem and handed you a solution.
edgespeeder06 02-17-2007, 04:14 PM yea me too, i thought i was goin to get the run around and have to show him the reports i printed out, but since that place sells all types of mustangs they know their stuff and im probably not the first person. I just hope it doesnt happen again, because my cousin was convinced that it was the cruise control which i also thought was acting up, but whatever it is, im glad its being fixed, anyone else should defintely try to get theirs fixed
ylwstang_girl 02-18-2007, 01:30 AM yep...happened to me today...i'm taking her in next week...luckily for me i was on the highway out front of my house where the speed limit is 80 km/h (i'm in Canada btw) and it happened when i was entering into a 50 km/h zone
edgespeeder06 02-18-2007, 01:35 AM ooo damn, at least your safe :-) i guess it just keeps happening to the mustangs little by little, and at least we know what the problem is as determined by my dealer.
HDmstng 02-18-2007, 01:42 AM Hopefully that is the problem, but how do they know for sure since you haven't had the throttle body replaced yet?
odiaz 02-18-2007, 01:49 AM Is this happening only to V6s or are the GTs experiencing the same problem? I haven't had the problem but I only have about 6k Miles on my car and I probably won't be driving for atleat 4-6 weeks.

they ran some tests, well tests all day and they called and told me they are orderin the throttle body seeing that the test determined that its not functioning properly, and yes its popular among the gts and v6s of any year above 05, checkout the link i posted to the complaints http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/complaintsearch.cfm
DaBoss 02-18-2007, 02:24 AM Dude I checked out the link and saw only three seperate incidents of this happening. I am not saying that it does not worry me, but you have been making this out like it is a widespread epidemic. The first three complaints that the search provided were all from the same person. I am glad though that the dealership is going to fix it for you. Enjoy your Stang or go buy something "safer"

dude theres more than 3, its under speed control and vehical speed control, i found 17 for the 05 v6 mustangs but there arent as many for the gts :)
If you can, get them to tell you exactly what they thought was wrong with the throttle body. I'm sure some people would be interested in knowing this.

mAnYsTyLeS 02-18-2007, 11:20 PM Which NJ dealership is fixing your car? Thx.
ZZLEGEND 02-18-2007, 11:42 PM x-bone probably thinks the throttle body might have had a piece of carpeting in it.

hey All American Ford in Hackensack why is urs having the problem too?
edgespeeder06 02-23-2007, 09:06 PM All Fixed and acting brand new with no sticking throttle anymore :)
petepete 02-23-2007, 09:40 PM This why the 05 stangs had a throttle body heater. My bet you all live in cold areas and is getting frozen and stuck open. They are probbably putting the new version of throttle body the 06s have. THis was a problem with all cars with the 4.0 and they fixed it in the trucks first. i dont think it is a problem among gts as they dont have the throttle body heater
edgespeeder06 02-23-2007, 11:16 PM wow thats what i was thinkin, seein that another guy had a problem with his 05 truck too and they fixed it
Twister086 03-05-2007, 04:22 PM hey my 05 gt had a sticking throttle for awhile. i found out the problem was that the gas pedal had eventually cut into the carpet. i fixed it about a year ago by taking a piece of thick nylon (bookbag material) and using velcrotohold itbehind the pedal, i havent had this problem again since.
