i thought the hi-po was technically still with the 3" with the 2.8 as an option?

You're right. Thanks for catching that.

So you guys really like the X-Charger huh? I hear the best benefits of it is the low end torque. Basically that's the take-off right? Do any of the X-guys have an auto? I'm wondering how the take-off is with the auto, since I have an auto.

Most of the X-Cars are Autos. Of the original four, mine was the only manual (the only convertable too for that matter). We've since added more manuals to the X ranks, but the autos are way out ahead in numbers. In some ways the auto is better prepped to handle the torque the "X" lays down. (yes, that's the kick in the seat when you push the pedal to the floor). The Auto V6 has the same tranny as the GT, and can handle the increased output well. The manual guys will almost certainly have to look at installing an upgraded performance clutch eventually.

Yea I saw the pics and figured as much, I just like to ask things twice to be sure.

I think I'll probably be going the same route. I don't really need more for the street, but for the occasional track run.....

Yes, that is Mr. Media Whore himself!!!  LOL!

Now, don't let the X-Men fool you... The Vortech is just as comfortable on the street as it is the strip!  Now they talk a good game about low end torque... but the fact is I've got a better 60' with my Vortech and very similar setup (actually the X-charger car had better tires! LOL!)

One thing I will give the X-Charger is it's look... it is pure sex on wheels!!!

BTW... the Vortech HO kit will get you OVER 300RWHP!  And it cost less....

Really? And that is putting it on a bone stock 6? Do you have a link where I can find it? You have a Vortech?

Keep in mind with the stock vortech tune you probably wont get 300rwhp. Youll need a custom tune. And I dont think that scrming got that 60'  bone sock other than supercharger. Not sure what he had at the time so i guess hell tell you that o_O

when you say a custom tune, you mean like on the SCT2 tuner? I'm a newb sorry if it seems like a stupid question.

yes theyll use your sct but youll need to go to a performance shop with a dyno and what not and theyll tweak your tune more than the vortech tune. The vortech tune is set at SUpersafe and a tuner will take it to just safe so you get more hp  o_O

i think the whole street deal is because it is only in boost at all when you are at a certain point in the throttle, and it has insane response.  The centri's will outperform on the track, but the x is probably more natural feeling on the street, just to be fair.  No doubt the centri's will put down better numbers and times, but don't talk about 60 foots, we have had this discucssion before...doesn't fazm have a faster 60 than almost all the forced induction guys with just bolt ons? LOL!

The whole reason i think the x-charger is pushed for the street warrior guys is because of its 0 maintanence until 100k thing along with how simple it is.  You don't have to worry about it at all until then really.  The centri's have gotten alot more reliable in the past years, but they are still nowhere near as simple as the roots.  In all fairness, the cost of installation on the vortech will make it as expensive if not more expensive than the x in the long run.  Really, both will make you happy for sure, the centri equipped car will be faster in almost all situations, the x looks better, and is probably a bit more reliable in the end, but will not have nearly the potential of the centri later on.  If you have a local "specialist" like scrming does with MRT (who is extremely experienced in vortechs) go with what they are experienced with as it seems you don't have a ton of knowledge on the subject, and it is always nice to have some help if something happens.  Both systems are gonna perform real well, and cost wise will mostly work themselves out in the end.  My reccomendation: stay away from procharger unless you really know what you are doing because they have horrible customer service and some quality issues, stay away from turbo unless you can afford the big bucks, and just choose between vortech and x-charger.  Both will likely make you equally happy.  I think there is one more spot in the group buy of x-chargers at the 40_collective_.com  (take out the underscores) if you are gonna go x-charger, but that may have been taken up by someone else.  Just pick, they really are both great systems.  Have fun!

Yes, spend the money and get a custom dyno tune, no matter what option you go with...

So basically for the street the X is a better bet? I will never take my car to the track and if I do it will be a one time thing. I'm not a track guy. I just want power off the line really. I want to be able to pull up next to them 350's, G's, GT's and just smoke em haha or keep up atleast lol

yes, i have the Vortech... 313RWHP... not bone stock... but it was with basically just an MRT exhaust.  I also have 4.10 gears which can actually cause the peak HP to be down a bit... oh... and I'm an automatic... LOL!

My Vortech install and dyno sheet are here: http://www.v6john.com/Main/Performance/Vortech/Vortech.htm

I'm an auto myself. Is that 313hp from the crank? And how much did the Vortech cost you? You got a link that I can check it out? Also, is your car your daily driver? Mine is my daily driver and I just want to know if putting a S/C will give me problems without other upgrades

Dunno if you mentioned it but did you get an sct? Because if you get a vortech they send you a diablo tuner but it is a piece of poop

My Votech feels very natural... power comes on nice and smooth when you want it to...

Why not talk about 60' times?  Everyone says the x-charger has all this great low end torque... if that were the case why aren't we seeing killer 60' times? Fazm, times are amazing but then again he's launching like a friggin madman!!!! LOL!  I'm only able to launch at about 1600 to 1800 RPM with a bit of spin and I still mananged a 1.86 60'...

The X-charger is also a fair amount more coin... There are really only 2 main reason I see for spending that much extra for the x-charger:

1) It's sexy looks
2) You want to do the install yourself.

I'll be down at MRT sometime next Tuesday... we should go for a ride... although these snowtires spin like crazy... LOL

PetePete I am purchasing an SCT2 next week..and Scrming you think the X-Charger looks better under the hood than the Vortech? Cause I def dont lol I love the way the Vortech looks. I was looking at your page and your car is awesome. BTW love the new hood, I am in love with that hood. So is there a link where I can see the S/C from Vortech for the 6? I saw the GT one. And which one exactly do you have? Also, you say the X is more coin, does that mean the Vortech is under $4 G's? Sorry for all the questions lol I'm getting excited!! haha
