Ok I'm sure this has been asked before, but I want a fresh start. So which S/C is better? Procharger, Vortech or the X-Charger? Now I know this is a matter of opinion in many ways, but I'm looking for number and prices. I am currently saving for one but  I need a goal to work toward. Also, do I need any other upgrades when installing a S/C? I am basically bone stock, besides my CAI, Duals and I have a tuner on the way. All input is appreciated. Thanks.

he means depends on what you're looking for.  X-charger is a better streetable supercharger with high levels of end low torque.  They are all very good....I mean I know Scrmin runs the vortech and seems to be running good times...flapjack runs the procharger with cams and heads and runs 404rwhp....it's pretty much pick your poison.  If I was you, I'd get the x-charger for a street setup and a procharger if you plan on track/street.

If your not going to the track xcharger is the best. If you are Procharger has been showing the best numbers while it has been said vortech has the best reliability.

I'm definitely not going to the track. Ok so say I want to get the X-Charger, what will it run me and should I put any other upgrades in along with it. You know, for the life of the car. I don't want to kill my car. Oh and also a good site to buy it from. Thanks.

You can get gears/lsd also. I thinkt he xcharger is 4500? And is supposed to be an easy install so a shop should only sharge 600-800 dollars

Here's the best place to look for a great deal on a centrifugal Supercharger.... http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05v6ati.htm .....Spec's, prices etc., and if you find a verifiable lower price on a similar system, RPM will match or beat it!
Thought about looking into Powerdyne too but they don't seem to be offering S/C's for late model 4.0's yet. There are mixed reviews on Powerdyne so be careful.
You'll find kits offering up to 400+ RWHP.
Personally I'd be pretty happy with 350 GT killing RWHP for street use! More than enough power!
I've read that you can find fantastic deals on ebay as well but if you're not that experienced with S/C's, I'd stay away from used and or rebuilt systems. Might find a new system with warranty though. Never know.
Good luck!

the cali kit i believe makes 266 rwhp (aixers car i think thats what he makes) thats close to 300 hp at the crank. Dunnio bout the hipo id say prolly 280 or so rwhp im not to sure about that. You can pm afixer as he is the most knowledgeable about the Xcharger that i know of. You can also try any of the other X men but im not too sure who they are

Roving X-Man here.... (#004)

You can find pricing info and X-Charger details here: http://www.explorerexpress.com/mustang-0507-superchargers-c-86_87.html

Petepete was in the right ballpark with the figures he quoted. I'll be happy to try and field X-Charger related questions

p.s. The X-Men don't work for the company, but we tend to sound like we do 'cause we love the "X" so much

The "original four" X-Men that hang out online are Afixer, BScottie, Navbtcret and myself. Then there's the "new guys" who are just getting installed from the big group buy on another board (17 new X-Men inducted). There's also a few more out there in between the "test pilots" and the big group buy. "Nice Pony" (S/N 008 falls into that group (with a unique install where he had the "X" and the hardware coated in gloss black)

Here's a couple shots of my "X":

So you guys really like the X-Charger huh? I hear the best benefits of it is the low end torque. Basically that's the take-off right? Do any of the X-guys have an auto? I'm wondering how the take-off is with the auto, since I have an auto.

Most of the X-Cars are Autos. Of the original four, mine was the only manual (the only convertable too for that matter). We've since added more manuals to the X ranks, but the autos are way out ahead in numbers. In some ways the auto is better prepped to handle the torque the "X" lays down. (yes, that's the kick in the seat when you push the pedal to the floor). The Auto V6 has the same tranny as the GT, and can handle the increased output well. The manual guys will almost certainly have to look at installing an upgraded performance clutch eventually.

I was just browsing that site. I see it uses a stock air filter. Does that mean I can't use my CAI with the X? And also which X is the best. The Hipo or the other one? Are there significant differences between them?

"Best" can be subjective. The Hipo has a smaller pulley (2.8") and makes more boost than the CA Spec (3.0" pulley)

I have the 3.0" pulley but am running the Hipo intake. At least one of the existing X-Men has both pulleys and switched back and forth, feeling that the 3.0" pulley is plenty for the street (I agree) and saving the smaller pulley for the track.

And no, either version "X" won't use your CAI (The throttle body is mounted in a whole new location, look at the pics I posted a few posts back). Neither would any of the other supercharger types, they all use their own air plumbing.

i thought the hi-po was technically still with the 3" with the 2.8 as an option?
