Shelby GT, GT500, California Special, SC Saleen, or Saleen 302 PJ?  Which one do you think will hold it's value better and ultimately be more collectible and desireable?  And Why?

It will be close between the GT500 and the PJ 302.  The PJ will see the lowest production numbers.....and it has the mystique of having 302 cubes under the hood, but the Shelby name definitely has staying power.  I discount the Shelby GT simply because I've heard they will build as many as will sell.  Sounds like that could kill collectibility in the long run.  But I could be wrong about that.

In the end, it will come down to what someone is willing to pay for the car.  There simply are no hard and fast rules about how a car will be valued in the long run.  I keep thinking the muscle/pony cars of the 60's/early 70's may be the last American made cars to ever claim "classic" car status.  I just don't see anything of a later build date ever achieving that level of desirability again.
