Wow,

I hope I'm still "on it" enough to purchase an Evo or "Evo type car" when I'm 50. That's awesome. Congrats.

Yeah, as far as I know, I'm the oldest Evo owner in the country. OK, there's probably someone older, but if so they ain't online.

The Evo's a fun car in small doses. It's rather like a wolverine...with rabies...coming off a week-long tequila and meth bender. I have driven the Reno<->San Jose trip (about 4 hours) a couple of times, and while it's fun in the mountain sections, long highway cruises are not the car's forté. Even with 6 speeds, 75mph on the highway is about 3300RPM.

The Saleen should slot in neatly between the Evo and the Acura RL. Then I will have the perfect car for any situation! Except maybe offroading.

Too funny.

That's where an old full-size Bronco comes in handy...

Spoke to Saleen yesterday. Things are starting up. They remain confident that the car will be ready the first week of April even with the custom paint.

As a side note, I find it ironic that the "base" car my Saleen will be built from is...drum roll...Grabber Orange.

So you're buying a top of the line mustang and are afraid to spin the tires on it?  Booooooooo.   Dont be one of those old guy that blows their wad on a car and never drives it like it was meant to be driven.  (I'mnot saying beat the hell out of it, but you know what I mean.)

Hm. In the future, I will try to remember to bracket obviously farcical comments with little animated clown horns or something.

Whippersnapper. One ride in my Evo would shut you up!

Just Saleen's standard "Lizstick Red", kind of a miles-deep, very glossy interpretation of Ford's "Redfire".

Hmmm....I think you took my comment the wrong way.  I was just saying that I would be thuroughly disappointed if you were one of those old dudes that buys an auto corvette because they think they're hot **** and then drive around like morons.  I'm just saying have fun with your car...that's why youre getting it.  It also sounds like you do have fun with your Evo, and if youre ever in IL, I'll let you take me for a ride (although I'd rather ride in the Stang!).

Actually, I drove a new Corvette. It was curiously uninvolving. I thought about a Z-06, but they're surprisingly common, even in Reno.

Yeah...that's kind of my point.  I'd much rather have a Saleen than a vette.  Hell, I'd rather have my Cobra than a vette (well, that might be pushing it, but....)  Congrats on the purchase.  I'll be waiting for some pictures in April.

Just out of curiosity, do you fly at all?  I wanted to be a pilot and I got my instrument license last May.  Its a great time, but after the aviation industry hit the fan, I decided that Accountancy would be a much more stable career.  Pretty boring, but hopefully I'll make enough to buy a plane and a Roush.  Anyway, enjoy the stang.

I have a brother who is a commercial pilot, and my parents are avid pilots, but I've always tried hard to avoid becoming interested. It's hard to imagine a bigger money sink.

I noticed you said lizstick red on the first pages, but I thought you had to have the redfire as a base paint.

I didn't order mine.  There was a flurry of orders around here (aka on this site) when I bought mine though and I remember delays were typically 1-2 months.  The delays were usually caused by the paint booth not being available.

Nice!  I've been very happy with the silver paint.  It looks nice and is very easy to keep clean (unlike the chrome wheels, which look great but are impossible to keep clean).

Btw, welcome to mustangforums.  I'm sure you'll find lots of good info on your ride on these boards.

I did not order it.  I ultimately located my car in the midwest.
