Welcome, and congrats [:)]

I had an '85 GT for over 20 years and was without question a Wednesday car. Had absolutely NO problems over the course of time. I currently have an '02 (see sig) and has been good so far, less window roll-down issue that went away. It can take a few years to work the bugs out of a new car sometimes, and a few consistant probs have been listed here on the '06 models. No major ones to my knowledge and would be dealt with by Ford or Saleen if there were. Mostly misc. fitment items of bumpers, some clunking on sway bar and badges coming off of steering wheel.

If you find a prob, look back at old posts for some answers. If you can't find help there, post a question and someone will chime in on ya.

               Again, congrats and good luck.

Welcome! Be sure to ask questions here -- someone always has an answer!
Post your favorite "Saleen moments" after you've driven around a few days. You'll know what I mean [;)]

Welcome!  Nice to see more SC convertible owners joining the forum (I think you're the third in the past few weeks, along with kc10kevin and digitalman).

I'm at 5k miles, still enamored with my ride, and have had no major problems **knock on wood**.  Although the more I talk to neighbors/friends with similarly high powered (400+hp) turbo/subercharged cars (911 turbo, AMG, RS6), the more I believe something will have to break down at some point.

As far as Fords go, I've owned Fords for 17 straight years with almost no major repairs, including:
an '87 Bronco (sold at 160k miles),
an '89 LX 5.0 (just sold at 106k miles),
a 95 GT 5.0 (sold at 90k miles), and
my '90 Bronco (still running strong w/ 103k miles).

Some of it's luck, some of it is proper maintenance.

Bob D. -> RE: NEW CAR (2/6/2007 3:31:08 PM)

Congrats Zoom, and enjoy your car! I too have an SC 'vert, and in about 6k miles had only one minor problem and it was fixed without issue under warranty.  I am lucky to have had lots of nice cars over the years and so far this one is holding its spell on me the best, and hands down gets the most positive comments from folks.  Now I just need the calendar to "zoom" ahead a couple of months, so I can take my car out of hibernation.  Very tough having a nice car while living in the frozen tundra of the midwest.  ;-)  Again, enjoy your new toy!

dotbomb -> RE: NEW CAR (2/6/2007 4:12:25 PM)

Congrats and enjoy!

If I was not married to someone who thought my safety was more important than style I'd have a speedster myself.  I'm jealous of everyone that has a 'vert.

Small world.  My wife raised precisely the same concerns about buying such a high powered vehicle without a hard top.  But I found some stats on the low probability of rollovers for a Mustang and that seemed to settle things.  That, and we agreed to double my life insurance coverage...[;)]

I bought the Extreme in a convertible...  had the top down the other day and was getting complements every where that I drove.

I truly lust after your E convertible.  Though I think I'd be truly afraid to have 100 more hp on tap while driving around with the top down...

zoomo6 -> RE: NEW CAR (2/6/2007 8:44:54 PM)

Thanks for the input guys. Now if the weather will clear up here in Portland Oregon I will start zooming around . I will try to post some pics soon.

Thanks[;)]

DigitalMan -> RE: NEW CAR (2/6/2007 8:47:52 PM)

The sound and the feel of a 400+hp Vert is.... well   priceless!

Welcome! [:)]

I just never liked verts for some reason. Just not my cup of tea.

kc10kevin -> RE: NEW CAR (2/7/2007 4:10:30 PM)

Welcome Zoom!  Oh, can I say that;  I've only been on this forum for a couple of weeks [8|].  Anyway, I've had my 06 since Aug of last year (6K).  Here are the problems I/ve had:

1.  Front brakes squeeled like a banshi!!!  Saleen told me that the roters were ground incorrectly (too thin) and were building up a resonance.  Saleen cover new rotors under warranty.
2.  Horrible "clunking" sound from the front end over sharp bumps.  Sway bar was bad/recalled so they replace they replaced it and lubed it up.  Great now.
3.  Paint had pealed where the Saleen bumper mated with the front drivers quarter panel.  Sallen covered the front bumper being repainted.
4.  Now I have a horrible flapping sound since they reinstalled the bumper.  They did not put the screen ins correctly on the bumper and they ar flapping in the wind when I go fast!!!  They are going to reinstall when I take it in.
5.  Hood does not fit right where it meets the front drivers fender.  It is bowed just slightly with a small gap.  I knew it was there and forgot to mention it last time I was in.  Unfortuunatly, I installed the Redline hood strut kit and now they will probably say it was because of the kit installation that it is bowing.  Of course it is not and will still try to get it fixed under warranty.

Other than those items above, it is the sweetest car I have ever owned and I've had some nice ones!!

Enjoy and welcome to the club.

Kevin
