Hey guys i got 2 tickets in 1 week for my tints... anyone know how easy it will be to remove them while its 3 degrees outside? windchill of -11 degrees?

I have to take the car up to the police station and they have to come out and look so i figure i might as well make their asses come out on the coldest day ahahaha

should i use a hair dryer, or just rip it off cold?

I think there is some kind of removal spray for taking it off easier.

What percent tint do you have?

When were the tint laws passed in your state? I ask because my oldProbe had 10% tint which is now illegal in Wyoming, butI was allwed to keep it because of ex-post facto laws. Meaning that if your tint was put on before the law was pasted, they cannot enforcea law that at the time of install didn't exist, you can at the very least fight the tickets, and at best keep the tint and laugh in the face of those pigs.

On the other hand, if they were adopted before install, all you can pretty much do is take'em off.

How can you prove when they were installed?

the only real thing u have to go by is a recipt or ur word. u know what cops have to go by for tint. a print out piece of paper, or a plastic card that hasa dark area on it that isnt even close to being acurate.

You can either go to the guy that sold you the tint and make him pay the ticket b/c he didn't tell you it was illegal or find the guy the sold you the tint and ask him when you bought it to see it was illegal, or do #1 and make him take it off for free or say you'll bring in the cops and arrest him for selling illegal tint's w/o letting you know about it!!!:)My friend was caught w/illegal tints and he brought his tickets to the shop they paid for it and offered to take it off for him b/c he said he'd tell the cops about his illegal tint selling to 17 yr olds!!!!

take it to a shop and have them remove it and put on legal tint after.

I HATE CLEAR WINDOWS, ive 20% on my car for a few months now and the legal limit is 35% on the sides. cops dont even flinch when i drive by.

Away around it with out having to take them off, tell the law enforcement that you bought the car like that. Its something you can't prove and they cant prove. I have 2% tints and im fine. then again, I work for the law.

You should know better! :)It is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer to make sure everything is legal on the car. There is no way to plead ignorant to illegal tint.

As for removing the tint from the front windows, get yourself a bunch of stainless steel razor blades. Get yourself 2 bottles of Goo-Gone & a bunch of rags. Scrape the tint the best you can and use Goo-Gone to help remove any remaining pieces & it'll easily remove any glue left behind.

I've found from experience that heat doesn't make removing the tint 'cleaner'. I've found that the Tint/Glue seperates from eachother easier with heat.

If you have tint on the back window, you'll have to be extremely careful with razors blades to not hit any defroster lines. You can also use Goo-Gone.

There are other more effective ways to remove window tint, most require garbage bags & ammonia solutions and you literally soak the tint. I don't know how hard you are willing to work or if it'll be less effective in this cold weather.

Getting the seller to pay the ticket would work through a dealership that inspected the car.

i used a heat gun and it came off mostly with all the glue too so it left little to no mess on the windows.

I have 5% here in Delaware, i love the fact no one can see me and i pass state troopers and local police and they don't look twice. Supposively they don't bother you for tint here unless your doing something else wrong. Where do you live.

Tint legality is different everywhere. It keeps going up here. Local small pd's don't really mess with it, but state boys will get you every time.
If you do try the receipt from when it was tinted, it probably won't work. I tried that before.
Also, as tint ages, it turns purplish and causes it to read even darker on the meter, even though it looks lighter.
My husband is a police officer, and I understand their reasoning behind tint laws. If they can't see you in the car, then they don't know if your scratching your butt or pulling a gun.
I got pulled over for my tint (5 on the back, 20 on the sides) for the first time in three years about a month ago. It was a state trooper. Luckily he knew my husband and advised me since I'm fair complected I should get a prescription from my doctor, which I have been meaning to do. You could also try an eye doctor.
