Default having a hard time changing the rear brakes 2001 v6

I need some help, I'm changing the brakes on my wifes 2001 v6 Mustang and I did the front without a problem but the rear caliper piston doens't want to compress so I can get the new thicker pads in there. I opened the bleeder valve and put a large clamp on the piston and it just won't budge, so I went to the other rear caliper and did the same, it won't budge either. What am I missing here? The front was easy.

please help, I've got her car in pieces and need to get this done today.

thanks all.

there is a specail tool that you can use! it is like a ratchet with a square nub that should fit inside the piston then you just trun it and that should ease it back in side! i had to do it on my 99 on all four wheels and i didnt have the exact size at my buddies shop believe me it was a pain! good luck and i hope this helps you!

that's the way their made... the rears won't compress... they twist. You have to twist the pistons back in. There is a special tool that you can get from any shop or from snap-on. The one from snap on is the best one to get.

oh ok.. I did notice that little vshaped notch on the top but didn't understand the significance of it. So would a shop like advance auto, autozone etc.. carry that tool?
