here's my old 96 gt i crashed it about 6 months ago leaving work i was going about 45 to 50 in a 40 and there was a turn coming up so i went to hit the brakes and nothing so i tried to make it around the corner and i was going to try to pull the e-brake once i got around the corner to stop but it was to late and i wasn't thinking fast enough and i went into a pole. and then for kickers i guess the freaking airbags go off 5 seconds after the crash and it happend two days after i had the front bumper painted. o well i got a nicer stang now
WOW how does THAT happen , how do your break just not work all of a sudden , my hand break is messed up , but after reading the post above...makes me wanna go get that fixed !!!!!!!
ok. some people cant afford winter beaters, so lets get that out of the way. i crashed due to summer tires. i hit a patch of black ice monday night a hit a telephone pole and totalled my baby out. im sure some of you know about it. i'll learn from my mistake and get me a set of winter tires with 300lbs of salt in the back :) that should hold me nice and tight on the road haha. people who are driving your cars in the winter w/ out winter tires or weight in the back, take the advice and go out tomorrow and get it done. believe me. it will help. thats what im doing tomorrow
hopefully i dont crash this beauty.
Just for reference: The best "all season", or any other tires in the world are no good on ice. You can even slip & slide with chains/studs. The only way to drive on ice is slooow & careful

If you have to drive your mustang in the winter it means your too broke to get a summer car, which means you don't have enough money to own a mustang in the first place. I would never drive a rear wheel drive sports car in the winter especially not a mustang they are way worse than camaros or atleast the foxbodies were horrendous! Instead of spending $400 on winter tires just get a winter beater car with skinny tires that will cut through the snow with FWD
Mine has traction control, I just let it drive itself on idle, and I don't care how much traffic is behind me. They can all pass or kiss my a$$.
I like to take some air out of all my tires. My door says my tires should be at 30psi, so during the winter time I drop it to 28psi, all of them (more traction). When I start to slide, I ALWAYS throw it in neutral, (takes it out of gear thus no power to the rear(I was a poet and didn't know it )) and tap the brakes..., I DON'T SLAM THEM..., and I don't use the emergency brake, and I turn towards the slide, e.g. if my rear slides right, I turn my stearing wheel right.
I know all of this from experience of practising in the snow (hey I live in the North East), what works for me might not work for others. I am just giving a suggestion on what to do if you slide on snow and/or ice.
Best time to learn is at a mall parking lot when it snows. Use one of your family members car. Or get a small car with front wheel drive.
I picked my car up and drove it home in the snow @ 10mph all the way...lol...
Although i have a winter beater, it comes off the road march 1st due to my incredibly high insurance costs (that poor 2000 GT... but thats a diff story). Our last storm was in early march and I had to go out, but was actually suprised at how driving technique can completely make the performance of a car. I ended up having fun driving it (donuts were amazing). On my way home I was nearly hit head on by an asshole in an SUV. I'm no longer worried about me driving my car in the bad weather, its the ****in idiots with 4wd who overestimate their trucks. If you take it slow and dont freak out when you slide (i have that ability to remain calm when i lose control), you will be fine. Yes it is smarter to have a POS, but if you cant afford one, and cant drive, Drivers Ed is about half the cost of snow tires.
tree on the front passanger fender and a small fence from the corner of a yard on the drivers rear quarter, lost a mirror, antenna and side scoop. not to mention a pretty good amount of pride. decent amount of damage for 30 - 35 mph.
and for what ever reason the whole ass end of my car comes off at the body shop...
what ever. sorta like getting 4500 dollars worth of body work and paint done for a 500 dollar deductable.
Hi im new here, i have a '00 GT and i got it the 30 of last month(march), well anyways, just yesterday (April 10) my dad crashed it, and im pretty sure is a total loss, the whole passenger side is messed up...so you guys shouldn't feel so bad at least you got to enjoy it... ill post picks soon...
i hit a tree.. it was crossing the road and shouldnt of been standing there.. was only going 10 mph... its all good though got my new steeda hood on the way

i hit..........my winter beater, LOL i bought an integra for winter ( soon realised not being able to go anywhere was better then drivin that turd) so i just drove my stang with bald tires thru ohio winter lol slid into my icy drive and bumped my winter beater, lol
Man .. the roads were iced really bad here in Nashville a couple of months ago and I was at a friend's house when they first started to ice up. I was just trying to get home .. like 2 miles down the road .. going 10 miles an hour the whole way, doing everything right, being cautious and careful. .. Then I get to the hill that you have to climb to get to my condominium. I tried to make it up, and no matter what I did the tires just spun and I wasn't moving at all. So as I'm trying to figure out what to do, within seconds, (I was in the complex at the time), I see a white Stratus coming down the hill. It saw me and braked too hard and went sideways. I'm sitting there with my buddies and we're laughing, saying "haha this guy's gonna hit us ... haha ... ......... OH **** HE'S REALLY GONNA HIT US!" lol, I tried everything I could to get out of the way, but no matter what the Cobra just wouldn't move and I got to sit there and watch the Stratus helplessly creep closer and closer 'til BAM. The dude tried to blame me for being too far to the left and I was like ... "I was two feet from the side of the road and there are about 4 witnesses here to back me up, so don't even try to tell me that." then when I tried to get his insurance info he tried to tell me, "don't take it to insurance dude, my agent's really good and she's just gonna laugh at you when you try to put the blame on me. Your insurance will pay for my damages, trust me, let's just go our separate ways and you pay for your damage while I pay for mine" .. I was like .. yeah .. right ... I got his info and he ended up neglegent lol, no contest there. Tried so hard to put the blame on me too. Oh yeah, another car came down the hill as well as soon as the Stratus hit us and stopped just in time .. then ANOTHER car came down, went sideways and hit that car too lol. Two wrecks in two minutes. But the good part was the only damage done to my car was the Snake emblem broke off (that's 25 bucks, damnit. I'm back to the pony now.) and the headlight/bumper were replaced. His entire car was smoking, wouldn't turn on and the hood was like 5 feet up in the air lol ... It might've even been totalled on his end. Worked out good for me though.
