All,

I want to change out the coil packs on my 05, the only company I have found was Granatelli. And I've been told by a respectable shop to stay away from GMS. Is there any other company that makes ignition sh!t for the 05's. I've run a search, and nothing comes up for the 05. Also will you see any HP gains with these or are they more for high HP applications? Thanks

I'd like to know too. I'd like to have a stronger spark since I'm supercharged. I've heard they are good for that.

Aftermarket coils are worth zero HP in most applications.  If you have FI and you're running high boost and you are having blowout problems then new coils are worthwhile.

You can either use the GMS and  then worry about them failing every once in a while, or you could get the MSD ones.  I have no experience with the MSDs--they are pretty new on the market, so I don't think there's a lot of data out there.  Then again MSD is a very reputable company.

Save your money aftermarket COP are useless even with FI. They do not provide any more spark or a higher output spark than the stock COP.

they DO provide considerably better spark. whether you really need it is the question.

Youre stock coils are powerful enough for pretty much anything. They do weird stuff sometimes when they buy the farm. Sometimes they still deliver a spark but generate a bunch of RFI that can mess with speed sensors, module networks, gauges, other coils, several engine sensors - you name it. Your alternator can do this too. Like back in the day when you could hear the engine whine through the radio. Better stuff to mess with than the radio these days. Ask an Lincoln LS owner!
