I dont normally street race and i've only done it maybe 2 times. But yesterday i was driving down the road and i notice a '01 Cobra riding in front of me in the other lane. I speed up just to take a look at his car and when i get next to him he drops a gear and takes off. I wasnt really planning on racing so i just kept driving normally. The next thing i know the light in front of us turns red and we are lined up. At this point i was getting kinda nervous and i wasnt sure if i wanted to race, but i got ready anyway. I looked all around us for cops and other cars and none were in site. There were no side streets for anyone to pull out in front of us, so i decided to go for it if he did. When the light turned green he nailed it and spun really bad. I went for it and had a great launch. Hardly any tire spin at all and it was all over by then. I had him by 2 cars lengths by the time i was in 3rd gear. After i got pretty far ahead of him, i turned off into a parking lot hoping that he would follow. Sure enough he does. He pulls up next to me and asks what kind of supercharger i had. I told him i didnt have one at all. The look on his face was priceless. He smiled and drove off. I know some people might say that he wasnt racing but he was. He wouldnt have pulled over and talked if he wasnt. All in all it was a great day, and i still get all tingly inside when i think about it.

If I'm thinking right today, don't 01 Cobra's put down around 300hp?

I agree, this probably wont happen again. I only have minor mods:full exhaust w/flowmaster mufflers, underdrive pulleys, k&n filter, snorkel removed( i doubt this does anything), lowered with adjustable shocks, cobra rims, and i will soon have some Nittos, a cold air kit, steeda tri-ax shifter, throttle body bored out, and intake manifold ported and polished.

I'm pretty sure that the '01 Cobras actually have more like 320 hp. Thats why i was so surprised that i won.

HAHAHA...And by the way the Fat Girlfriend Syndrome doesnt apply here, both our cars were empty except us.

Just be happy he did not hook up or you more than likly would have been looking at his tail lights. Sounds like a poor driver not a slow car.

oh by the way hats off to you. You at least out drove the guy and thats the main factor to winning a race.
