Your car definately moves out and appears to be really nice.  But at our track guys talk about the rides that DRIVE to the track, make a couple passes in the 7's, spray it into the 5's while dragging the bumper off, then DRIVE it back home.  Those are the guys most of us talk about.  You don't have a fast street car around here until you're running mid 6's or better, and even then you have to be careful what you say....not sure how it is where you live.

Forget that I'm throwing in my name for the slowest DD.  98 Mirage Coupe with a 1.5 liter.  Stock 92 hp and 93 tq.  My clutch is pretty much shot.  Lined up with my friend's 98 Corolla(1.8 liter) and got him off the line(reaction time) as soon as I shifted into 2nd he flew(not creeped but flew) pass me like a damn rocket ship  I'm scared to pull into a major street because I can't get up to speed fast enough

hahahahaha...I had a mirage too...and man I know what you are talking about. I think one time an old lady on a bicycle passed me going up a hill.

if my block wasnt so hard to find, i would have installed a 75 shot on my car already...but even with installing it right, i would rather not deal with it.  i ran 7.80s running 87 octane with around 9 to 1 compression...it keeps it fairly cheap.  the bmw needs 93 octane to run 15s, but the "old buick" only needs 87...

i got some new parts for the "old buick", and once the demon is up and running, those boxes will hopefully be emptied out.  i wont be able to run 87 octane anymore, and it wont be 346 cubic inches anymore either....but now i sound like the "next year im going to supercharge my car than it will run a second faster" guys...so ill be happy with my 7.80s for now...

It is the same. I was only trying to get the kid to come to the track and see him run since I've seen a dozen kill stories from him since I've been around. I'm not conceited or naive, my car gets the attention it does more for the looks than the speed which is the way I like it. It ALWAYS gets judged as a show car cause I've got a ton of cosmetic BS stuff and that's why it gets the attention it does honestly. It looks all show and no go. I honestly think this is why the car is popular, not because of it's speed. I've only shaken the car down and most around here in cali know me and know what the car is capable of. I will be posting timeslips weekly so we can follow the progress. I always drive my car to and from every race with the a/c on and the radio going. Even when this car hits it's peak, that's the way it will stay. What will it do? I don't know...we'll find out. I'm pretty sure I'll post mid 6's slips this week on just 13 psi. 5's are the goal on 22-24 psi but we'll see - that's a long way to go.

I'm not here to rub or snub anyone. Most all racers around cali know me and I have been around tracks for longer than most members have been alive on this forum. The stang is not my fastest car by far...

Hey Sleeper! As you can tell, I came back for a visit to the 'darkside'. Yeah, this one was a long build but after 2 motors it needed to be right. You can see too I also got rid of the belt shreddin, tensioner rippin' vortech. Once I got to 18 psi, couldn't keep a tensioner on the car to save my life. Tried everything from the reichard tensioner to a metal loaded and nothing worked so I gave in and went turbo. Shoot me a PM sometime...

Mark

No worries. Got tired of uploading vids so I broke down and got a new video camera today with a hard dive. I definitley want to try it out so I'm taking it to Irwindale tomorrow night. Timeslips are nice, but I'll post some vids of the runs...

Here's some old pics when I had the stock motor with a vortech. The car looks a lot different now (especially the engine and interior) but at least it gives you a glance at the basics of the car...

http://homepage.mac.com/chevykiller/PhotoAlbum6.html

Here's an old vid of a quick kill by taking advantage of the lights. This was when I was on the stock longblock with a vortech too and the car was running 7.30 -.40's 1/8 & 11.60 - 70's 1/4...

http://homepage.mac.com/chevykiller/iMovieTheater7.html

Here's adam's KB blown car running high 6's in the 1/8 at perris back in november. It's getting gutted now for a full track car...

http://homepage.mac.com/chevykiller/iMovieTheater8.html

I haven't updated anything in a long time but I suppose it's time so I'll get some new pics/vids this week.

Mark

Awesome!  I'd love to go out and run with you guys.  Looks like a lot of fun.

Oh yea, I'm guessing that wasn't the KB car I heard in those clips beating a lick.

lol i read this thread and i laughed my balls off! u can beat ls1's easy with gears and a few bolt ons. the first 330 feet of the 1/4 are the most imporntant, and it takes alot of power to catch up. i have outlaunched several modded ls1's and i get caught in the quarter but i have stock gearing! and if they only raced an 1/8th i could imagine the guy in the other car getting slaughtered. one of the cars i outlaunched and would have beat in the 1/8was a 99 corvette! granted it was an automatic, but it still had what, 350hp at the crank? i believe him, and there is no reason not to. ls1's aren't gods gift. i have seen little turbo 1.6l civics destroy ls1's.
