I was driving down International Speedway Blvd in Daytona Beach. For those who don't know, it's a four lane road in front of the Daytona 500 Track. I saw an 05 Corvette drive in the other direction, and thought 'I sure wish I saw an 05' Mustang'.
I promise you like 10 seconds later I spotted that distinctive looking front end in my mirror! When you see one, you can't miss it! So I slowed down to get a closer look (which pissed off the people behind me, but I had to), it was a white GT. I don't like white on mustangs, but it still looked muscular. Fortunately, the stoplight up ahead turned red. The driver in the car was old, so I figured nothing was gonna happen.
I kept looking at that car as we were waiting at the stoplight. Every now and then that old guy would catch me looking, and I'd quickly turn away!...guess I was being shy or something. I decided to rev a little bit just to get noticed. He looked over and smiled, then looked away. Right as the other lights turned yellow, I heard a roar...it was a stock sounding roar, but it still sounded good! I looked over, and that guy smiled then quickly looked forward with his hand on the shifter. I was thinking 'OH ****'!
The light turns green, and he peels out! This allowed me to pull a car length on him. In first and second gear, I had a little bit of a pull on him...but in third, he started creeping up on me ever so slowly! I'm a fairly modded car! The race ended before he passed, but if it were to continue he would have probably won that! He would've definately had me from a roll. I'm glad Ford made these cars so fast stock!
No...I didn't spray him! I have raced 94-97 Camaros before, and I think I can equate his speed to that IMO.
Yeah, alot of people tell me because I'm in a convertible it'll bog down my car. But I've always been able to run great times in my car despite what they said. Another member of my car club told me how convertibles were slower one night out at the track. He and I both only had exhaust and intake stuff at the time, he ran a 14.3 best in his hardtop and I ran a 13.9 best that night! He and I are both pretty good at the track and none of us had slicks. I'm down to a 13.6 without spray right now. I'm hoping for 12's this friday with spray...if I can drive the car well enough!

Motor Trend tested the automatic at 13.4 @ 99; e.t. and trap speed don't really match, do they? Anyway, that 13.4 is right along with 98-02 Camaros. Not too shabby.
There was one at my carwash the other day and I walked over to talk to him and it was an older guy... mid 30's... and he was a dick. He was like "man when people see this car they all want to gather around it and make me a specticle"SP I was like yeah... ok. I asked if he wanted to run and he said that he was breaking it in and wanted to put 500 on it before he gets on it. I asked why... its under wrranty. He didnt say a thing and just kept washing it. I walked back to my car and let him hear it as I drove to one of the bays to wash it.
It was an automatic anyways. He definetly would have lost! LOL
