Gotta question for everybody. Just bought an '07 torch red V6. I've got the standard 16" rims and I have a wicked squeaking sound from the right side at low speeds. Anybody got any ideas? I'm not much of a mechanic but it looks like the calipers might be rubbing against the inside of the wheels? Dunno, maybe I'm just leaning toward that b/c they took off the 18" wheels that were on the car when I first saw it. Anyway, then while I was trying to look at the brakes, I see some clips on the front wheels (both sides) that I have no idea what they're for. Help!
'cuz they weren't worth the $2k Ford wanted since I'm planning on going with some black wheels. Besides the tires were only like 235s and I want 255s or 275s.
Why not just jack up your car, pull a wheel and take a look? If the rims or wheels were rubbing on some part of the brake system then it would happen all the time, not just when cornering. So, it could be a clearance issue (something - usually the tire - is rubbing on the tire well) or maybe something got knocked loose when they swapped the tires.
If you can't see anything off-hand you need to bring it back into a dealership and have it looked at. It could easilly be a dry bearing, or a loose bolt on the front sway bar. While not a big deal to fix or replace now you sure wouldn't want something binding while you're driving it.
I'd remove the wheel and check the clips on the caliper. Look at both sides to see how they set. Also the wheel could be loose or there was a hunk of crap on the surfaces. Check it out.
