Watched for years now and can't ever recall seeing a Saleen come across the ramp.......if it's all that we think they are (still in doubt on this one, personally) then why the near-absence from the auction block?
Mine will never make it their as long as I own it.....already 6K miles in just 8 months.....it's just a car that was meant to be driven. Couldn't ever spend the $$ they do at the auction and NOT drive'em. I'll never be as rich as those boys.....but, I will have had more smiles on my face going down the road!!

I had the same question after catching some of the auction last week. Especially since I saw how some custom '05-'07 Mustangs sold at Barrett-Jackson this year for some decent cash. But I tried a couple of internet searches and came up with nothing on Saleens (aside from S7s) previously sold at Barrett-Jackson or any other auction.

Im a huge Barrett Jackson fan and I plan to head down to FL for the March auction (spectator only). There are not that many collector cars that are only 20+ years old yet. I dont think they have he market to draw a premium and not sure if it ever will.
I have seen Calloway Corvettes sell for a fraction of the price it took to build and Yesterday I saw a 2005 Panoz Esperante (120K new) go for just 60-70K. That auction really caters to muscle cars of the 60's and you can tell the generation with the interest in them. I really think the collector cars are based on the genteration who has the money at the time. B-J auction everyone bidding is in their 50's-70's and I think it's a matter of time before our gen of cars begin to be more collectible. For instance a 30's Deucemburg (?) that was expected to go for big bucks got only 300K or so. Where are the guys to buy that car? they are only about 100 years old now.
But, I also think people "preserve" their cars a bit more than they did in the 60's and leads to more good examples being garage queens.

I read that an S351 went through years back and went for nothing. I agree that when our generation( I am 40) hits their stride in 15-20 years the Saleens will do very well at Barret Jackson. I know I will own an S351 someday.
A red 99 S351 sold at Barrett J about 3 years ago for 29K. No one knew what it was so some guy just bid once and it was over. I wish I had been there for that one. It had 9,000 miles on it.

Duesenberg..LOL! Deucemburg? +1 for you my friend. The auctions work funny, I didn't see this car, but if it were restored properly it could be worth a LOT of money. I know someone with a couple Duesenberg's worth millions each & they look much better than the cars you see on that show. Paint jobs worth 60k... total restorations that cost upwards of 500k...
As for the Saleen, he could have probably sold the car on his own for more. No reserve means a handfull of people looking for a deal that could live without coming home with the car......doesn't always end in the car selling for big bucks. However, not many people are impressed with Saleen Mustangs..

I often wonder what the Saleens will be worth at Barrett Jackson in 10 to 15 years from now??? It seems that Saleens are undervaled now. So what will a SA-10 bring when people really find out about these cars?? Saleens are in a good position, with 1of 9 and 1 of 15 or 1 of 159. So I'll sit on my 1 of 1 Tim Allen promotional Saleen and wait for the right time and then take it to Barrett Jackson.
You might see a Saleen Parnelli Jones Mustang at Barrett Jackson next year. I hear that a Ford dealer has bought the Last Production Parnelli that is for sale in the USA #498 and is putting it in storage till next year for sale at the Auction in 2008 !
Good I hope they do just that, We need people to know what Saleens are, and I think I will hold on to my Tim Allen car, you had your chance, I got it off of E-Bay.
It will be a long time before a Saleen Mustang sells for more than what it was purchased for from the dealer. Bummer, but it's the truth. This is like the 1980's for Shelby's. Nobody wanted them. Not even a GT500 which I feel the S351R is equivalent to.
