The 351  fits well into a 68 compared to a 66.
Start by building a nice 9" rear end and a new set of leafs springs. I like 3.25, 3.50, and 3.70 gear ratios.
Then choose a modern 4 spd auto or 5 spd tranny.

I'm putting a 351W into a 67 right now. I have my freshly rebuilt tranny on the stand and a fresh differential on the floor waiting for me to paint the axle housing.

I have an extra pair of V8 engine supports if you are serious.
