So I still have no car since my last mustang hit a tree.  It was an 03 gt and I loved it.  I have been considering a 2006 GTO and I must say that as much as I love mustangs, the GTO is a fine car.  It went like a raped ape and was very very comfortable but unfortunately they are 32k and I am only 22 and want to start saving for a house after I graduate from college.  I could afford it but I dont really want a 600.00 car payment every month. I also thought about an 07 mustang gt, but they are even like 28k around here so thats out of the picture.  So here is what I came up with.......

I can get my hands on a brand new 07 sixer for 17k.  All is has is a manual transmission and is the base model.  I was thinking of purchasing a supercharger and supporting mods and figured Id have a pretty decent car. So..

2007 Mustang Gt- 28k appx
2007 Sixer + Supercharger and supporting mods- 21k appx

Basically Im thinking of buying the sixer, putting a locker and some 4.10s in the rear and adding a supercharger kit.  Im hoping that with those 2 mods I will atleast equal if not eclipse the performance of a stock mustang gt.   Do you guys think I will or is it a waste of money and a lost cause?

Buy, I would want anti-lock traction control for sure..... Get a base model at $19000 ( a few more options) and stick on an XCharger for $4000 and about $1000 more in mods, this puts you at $24000 for a car that will be faster than a GT.

basically 10 psi vortech 7 psi procharger or whatever the hipo xcharger boost is should take out a gt pretty easily.

Buy a used V6 for less than 15k and mod the hell out of it! Do a twin turbo and kick modded GT's asses!

Twins would be insane. Makes me want to go find out some prices. :P I want to get the Vortech V-2 with chargecooler for now, since it is so inexpensive. That and a couple more mods, should beat the brakes off of a GT.

all of the intercooled systems will put down better times than a new gt, and the x-charger will make it about equal.  if you really want a monster that will rape most gt's, even pretty well modded ones go turbo.

Good idea, but check on the interest rate between the used and new car.  Sometimes they will give you a better rate on a new car and it can make the difference in the payments.  Only bad thing about the 07 is that funky lookin' spoiler.    You might also consider trying to find a pony package car since the suspension is more on a par with the GT suspension (sway bars, tires and wheels).  This might save you some money, but before you buy check eBay and sources like V6 Mustang Stuff for the price on the GT take off parts to make sure you can't beat the pony package price by doing the add-ons later.

Happy hunting...

thats what im kicking my ass for getting my new v6 for. after i randomly looked up gt supercharged kits and saw that they were makeing 400hp to the WHEELS! more than a c6 corvette mind you (they make 400 at the crank. about 360-380hp to the wheels) man i wish i went for the gt and s/ced it. my dad would be pissed when i beat his c6. but oh well.

buy a rolling frame 05 and drop a 302 motor in it for $4 grand...supporting mods would make it as much as a GT or a tad more but you'd have a 345hp n/a car

EDIT-that's what im doin after college...spendin my first year at home to save up to do this, make my car nice, then move out

I love how people go off topic and forget a lot of various things.

One I doubt anybody wants to buy a roller for there daily driver and drop a 302 in it, another thing is you are telling the price of the supercharger and supporting mods but of course forget about install costs and reliability. JMO go with the GT, i'm already 350+ to the wheels NA so that shows what they are capable of. If you are going to mod the sixer anyway just go with the GT and not regret it later on. Again JMO and realize there are a lot of 6's that just want you to buy what they have.

Get the car you want, do what you want to the car you get.  That simple.

I would however, like to see a 350RWHP SAE dyno for your NA GT.   I've talked with guys over on TMS with GT's beating thier heads trying to hit those numbers without some compcams or head work.   I think Spyder has done it, hes NA GT is insane, but he put a ton of cash into it to get there.  And I think he is only at 330rwhp, not 100% sure on where he is exactly.

This is big time if you are getting 350rwhp na.

I just dunno what car really.  I love the 06 GTO, it goes like a raped ape, but its 33k.  I am leaning towards an 04 for 20k or so and doing heads/cams and hopefully have the power Im looking for.

how about this.  buy a 06-07 stang with a blown (as in broken, not s/c) motor for like $5-10k.  buy a working 07 GTO motor out of a wrecked GTO for about $7k.  install it for $4k.  now you have a $16-21k mustang with the GTO engine...talk about going like a raped ape!!

seriously, don't buy the v6.  you will only regret it later on....whether you mod it or keep it stock.
