I just dunno what car really. I love the 06 GTO, it goes like a raped ape, but its 33k. I am leaning towards an 04 for 20k or so and doing heads/cams and hopefully have the power Im looking for.
how about this. buy a 06-07 stang with a blown (as in broken, not s/c) motor for like $5-10k. buy a working 07 GTO motor out of a wrecked GTO for about $7k. install it for $4k. now you have a $16-21k mustang with the GTO engine...talk about going like a raped ape!!
seriously, don't buy the v6. you will only regret it later on....whether you mod it or keep it stock.
Thats all fine. But I am curious about a NA 350rwhp GT that hasn't had cam or head work. You really got that on yours?

Why not just look for a Mach 1 or a a high mileage terminator? Terminators can be had for around mid to low 20's. You can find mach 1's even cheaper. Cobra>GT>V6
I actually considered adding a Mach1 to my stable. I really like the Machs.
Do it!!! Find one in that cool grabber blue color like we saw at CCD...
Well, I really want the new boss. But now the wife wants a new truck, so the boss may not be in the cards....and I need more than one car I can take to the track in case I break one. LOL. I want an orange or blue mach.

I say if you are looking for cheap now and are willing to put a little in it later go ahead and buy a v6, but if you want the power now buy an 05 gt and get a tuner and cai. it will get you closer to what it sounds like your goal is. shop around and you can find used gt's from around 19k to as high as (i've seen them) 26k. You will have more potential in the long run with the gt but the v6 is still a great platform to play with. just remember it's what you are happy with that matters. so figure out your goal first and go from there.

That's great advice coming from a n00b! (no disrespect intended)
I found a beautiful 04 GTO with 7900 miles on it for 20k out the door. Its read with black interior. I hope Im still welcome around here now lol. My fiance has a stang so I guess that helps.
If you could find someone to do twin turbo on that car it would be uncontrollably sick... it would also be VERY expensive, but you would dominate modded GT's. Rygen is quite familiar with the power of turbo so he could probably let you know just about anything.
Talking about forced induction....how far can you go with the stock internals on a V6? Is that not a consideration just like on the GT, or is there more room to play?

most say 400rwhp but i dunno if thats ever been confirmed
theres a few people that have been running 12 psi and 14 psi for a while now with no problems

I don't know how it is with your car since you have a GT but I know we can change our compression ratio in the V6 to 8.1:1 for a supercharger and it's supposed to work better or a 10.1:1 ratio for NOS. But yes there is room for play
I don't know about compression ratios but I do know that I wouldn't dare going 12lbs boost on stock internals. Think I am very close to the ceiling on my engine. And isn't the V6 at least 200 lbs lighter than the GT? That's got to be an advantage.

Yeah the V6 is about 200 LBs lighter... I think the stock compression ratio on the V6 is in the 9.1:1 range. If I were you I'd go 8.1:1 and then up the boost on the PorCharger. BTW... how do you like your procharger? I'm thinking about getting one on my V6 this summer...
I am very pleased with it . Zero issues. I am mechanically challenged so had it professionally installed, so cannot comment on the installation. Boost comes on late, so driving around town (daily driver) is like driving a stock car. I also like the loud whistling...sort of jet-engine type noise. The blow-off valve really flexes itself audibly under heavy boost too. Also chose this one because it is so easy to upgrade and increase boost.
I've been running 12 PSI since day 1. The stock internals are pretty decent on the 6, overall better than the 8. The weak point are the pistons. Two piece oil pan, enhances bottom strength, forged rods and crank. Good Stuff. I have made numerous Dyno pulls and many 1/4 mile passes on the setup.
