But put the 5.4 in the GT? Now your asking for alot.

How in he world is that asking too much when the Fbodies have 5.7's???

Well I am not a big fan on the sport truck thing, and I am with pony when she says she hasn't seen much of the. But if they get rid of SVT all together, that would be a major downer indeed. I own a SVT Ford Focus and love the car. I am looking foward and see what SVT does with the new stang. And that would be no good if they stop cuz I have a load of cash saving up for the baby.

Ford getting rid of SVT is just what GM is looking for so they can make a good comeback with the new Fbodies... or what ever they will be called.

that is very true, GM would jump all over Ford if there was no SVT. I am half ass looking for a 2003-2004 cobra myself right now, and to get rid of SVT would be suicide for Ford.

dont get me wrong........i respect 'em for what they were, but, imo, you cant even COMPARE them w/ a v8. 2 totally diff leagues. but, theyre were respectable for no more than what they were.

how are they two different leagues? svo will run with the 5.0 on straights and ****in smoke them in the twisties. it will get better gas mileage and be a hell of a lot more fun also.

The 87-93's were making more HP/Torque
But NOT MUCH
and the SVO is lighter too :)

I would NOT mind owning an 85 1/2+ SVO

If I do ever find one, that will SOOOOo be my new winter beater :)
Believe in 85 the HP jumped to 205 and torque to 285?
Ran a 15.1 quarter mile
and could obliterate the GT on a road course.

I bet what happens inthe new cobra is it will get the same engine setup in the Ford gt. 5.4, twin screw blown. Even if SVT is dissolved, ford will still do a cobra. I'm not too worried.

calm down, calmn down. there have been many rumors on Ford cancelling SVT, but thats not true, in reference to the Car and Driver tv show. the rumors are actually that Ford is possibly going to make SVT into a totally new company. look at what they have come up with for the 05 stang, MRT---Mustang Racing Technologies (Ford sponsored) and an incredibly HUGE amount of money just went into FRPP. thank you Chris Theodore. Ford got a mixed response with the new Lightning concept and have chose to delay the project. as far as in SVO... there were rumors on the continuation through the focus and an AWD V6 mustang. how sweet will that be.

According to my Ford tech the focus is gone. The Ligntning is on hold temporarily. The new Cobra with 500hp will be
out end of 06 beginning of 07.

I think the Lightnings are awesome. I was considering buying one instead of the '05 GT, but had to stick with the pony.

LONG LIVE SVT!!

Mabey Shelby and Saleen could fill the void or try to take over and/or acquire svt. Because as a prt of ford, they are very restricted. They could do a better job on their own.

Just think about the others; they do so much to the cars, yet they don't charge that much more for them. I honestly thing the the svt's are a bit....expensive (in comparison).

Having Shelby do performance cars for Ford again would be a good thing. SLP Engineering did the Super Sport Camaros for GM in the 90s and those cars came out great!

Everyone makes it sound like losing SVT would be the end of the world. Yea, theyve been doing some very good things since they started,,what officially in 93 ish, i dont konw, but they trace back awhile,

however, IF, it were to happen. does anyone really think ford would just roll over?, i dont,,
maybe we'll get something nice, like a non supercharged cobra or something that makes the same if not more power..

either way, with or without svt, ford wont just drop everything they got from it, i personally dont care either way... i mean, i like svt, but something greater has to follow right??

and wahts the deal with that 07 Shelby Mustang in the new Motor Trend, i konw thats a photshop pic, but is that "550 horsepower" number legit.or just some morons making sh-- up?
