Hey, I possibly want to put a 351w in my 91 LX. I was just wondering what should i do for the intake, TB, and what kind of supercharger applications could I run? Could I run a VORTEC supercharger ment for a 302? The picture below has a 302 upper intake and a 351 lower w/ a supercharger and what about the pullys? Also, what all would I have to convert over to make it compatable with the 351?

HO 302s intake,heads will fit with out much problems and one thing thats not a VORTEC supercharger its a vortec boost cooler in otherwords a before intake intercooler riged up to a PAXTON supercharger prolly a novi 2000 but maybe a 1000. :) gj

I never said the one in the pic was a Vortec, i was asking if i could RUN a vortec

Yea you could, only thing stopping you would be the bracketry. Maybe have to have something custom made, but it would work, that's the beauty of those type of s/c's.

the 302 sc bracket wont work and ull have to buy a 351w

just looked into this for myself.

www.alternativeauto.com can customize your bracket for
a Vortech s/c so that it fits right but ..................
it cost ........ $225
can take up to 1 month to get it back
you might have some inlet pipe clearance issues with the valve covers

or

you can get the Vortech kit that mounts on the drivers side
but will have to loose your a/c and p/s pump, but no special
braket modifcation is required.

Vortech said the standard S trim units will support up to 680hp
so it should work ok on a 351W up to about 10-12psi.

or

get a GT-40 lower intake from a Ford Lightning off ebay
and run a Kenne Bell Blowzilla for the 5.0

I'm leaning towards the Kenne Bell myself. Will be easier to install
and make work but will be the most expensive by far.

Intakes........
Trickflow make their R intake for the 351
Edlebrock makes a 351 RPM intake
Edlebrock also now makes their well know VicJr. carb intake with injector ports now.
just put special TB on it. Very cool

Thanks alot. That really helps. Ill check the stuff out. About the one that takes place of the AC/ Powersteering pullys, is that going to suck not having PS? I mean i still want to drive this on the street as an everyday driver..

No get thge KB meant for the Mustang 5.0, the lightning truck uses a different
style of TB and TB location., the regular 5.0 KB will mount on to the Lightning GT-40 lower intake.

and you can get manual steering racks to go no power steering
they cost about $500 and supposedly steering forces arent too bad with them.
