My girlfriend has a 2003 V6 Mustang. Her dad found a good deal on some wheels/tires off of a 2005 GT (May be a 2006). Will these bolt right up to her car without any issues? If not, what needs to be done (if possible at all).
I know bolt pattern is the same, but backspacing is different. Lets put it this way, the wheels on her '03 won't fit on the '05, but I'm not sure if they will fit the other way around. They will either stick out a bit (which might look kinda cool) or sit in too far and will rub.
Hey, just saw the info you're looking for elsewhere on the net. 05-07 wheels WILL fit 94-04 Mustangs if you buy 1/2" spacers for them. I was right on the backspacing, they need to be spaced out 1/2" to clear everything. Hope this helps
I think Mr. Gasket makes them, you can get that stuff from any parts store (autozone, orielley, etc.) The 5x4.5 bolt pattern is pretty common so they should be pretty easy to find.
Well we test fitted the wheels. They fit quite well actually and they sit on there real nice. The fronts hit the lower a-arm when the wheels are fully turned, but only right at the end of the travel...so we are going to leave them on there and see how many times she actually makes them rub...my guess is not too often.
just take it wide like a trucker and she'll be fine. Had to do that when driving my buddy's 'bagged s-10, it rubs the shocks and frame if it is not fully up. Although it only rubs because he's an idiot and doesn't know much about shock placement when he made his own suspension.....
Stock tires are 225/55/16, the new GT wheels are 235/55/17. Old diameter was 25.7, new is 27.2. Kinda like taking some gear out of the car I guess. Her speedo is now 5.6% too slow with the GT wheels/tires. When the speedo says 60, she is really doing 63.3. Not too bad. Everything is fine with them so far...if it would ever get above zero here I could get it cleaned up and show you guys some pics. It looks sharp, very unique. I know they are not right for the car, but we got a killer deal ($175 for everything, tires have 1500 miles on them) and she needed a set of new tires anyway.
