With all these eleanor clones (we're talking the Nicolas Cage one not the original one) all over the place and the prices they command it goes without saying that they have a huge following. Yet there are those that say that enough is enough. Where do you stand in this whole 'eleanor' thing? Well, it is making bucks for some for sure. Others on the other hand say it is overdone to death with month after month pf a mustang mag editorial team meeting and saying let's put one on the cover.
its overly done. too many people made clones and the same kind of people think their rusted 67 fastback is worth 10grand solely because it could be made to be an eleanor

I agree and think "overly done" is being very nice about it. I started out in this hobby being an advocate of make your 'stang what your want it to be, concours, restomod or whatever speciality name you want to attach. I do admit to finally saying "get real" when I started seeing '65 coupes dressed up and called "Elenor Style" and being advertised for sale at unreal prices.

The one redeeming factor about the whole Elenor phenomenom is the technology and repop parts that came out after the success of the movie. Fastback quarterpanels and roof sections were not available before the movie. The underpinnings of the car are trick as hell to boot. So in that regard I am greatful for them.
However, that being said, I think that they are played and played out. In ten years they will be seen as a crushingly boring clone and the people who own them will be stripping off the elenor paint and fiberglass skirts in an attempt to right the wrong that was thrust upon these poor innocent fastbacks.

There are tasteful recreations and then there are clones. For those who transform cars that meet factory specs and are identical to the originals in all aspects other then VIN I have no problem with...other than the prices these cars are bringing. Clones on the other hand, sorry to those who have them, I do not care for, which is what these Eleanor cars are. Stop the madness, stop ruining perfectly good cars.

That's the only rant I have about the eleanors is that they have caused a major price inflation for the 67 fastbacks. I guess that could be a good thing at the same time though in that owners are getting a lot more for their rides (this is the case with many other mustang years not just the 67's).
because of the "elenor" craze all fastbacks 64-68 have gone up in "value"! Stupid Movie!!

cant stand the movie. Nic Cage cannot suspend disbelief. You always know its Nic Cage when he is on the screen. Add the technical BS that is on par with "fast and fictitious" movies for complete fantasy, and the movie loses its charm.
That being said. While it looked interesting in the movie, because it wasnt on the screen all the time, and they could hide a bunch of bad parts about it, they are just like a body kit on a Civic. its like rice has made it to the Mustang and people actually like it. Shelby didnt just add body parts to his cars, for the most part his stuff hauled tail. Most of these clones are just a body kit with a mild engine, and really a body kit shouldnt increase the value of a car.
Enough is enough. If I never see one again it will be too soon. Its a fad that is worse than Pro Street/Pro Fairground, and the riced out imports and front drivers. Its worse because it takes a decent car and makes idiots with money want to have one, so then the price goes up on them. That makes it tougher for someone like us to own one, because some tool thinks his rusted out fastback with a 6 is worth $20,000..
