elenor kinda makes me think of goth chicks.  Sure I guess it's cool to be different, and sure some of em are, as my granddad would say, easy on the eyes, but if everyone else is "different" then are you really all that special??

But anyway, whats wrong with hitting the nitrous at 6000rpm in top? LOL!!!! Go Baby Go!!!

On the button it should have Go baby go BOOM.. on it.. ROFL... you get the idea..  :)

Just because I like math in the automotive sense... :)

okay to have 6000rpm @ 90mph with a guestimated tire diameter of 26" you need a 5.14 gear..  a 4.88 gear would put you around 95mph @6000rpm.

So to run 160mph with a 5.14 gear you need to turn at least 11,000 rpm. So supposedly it has a 427 in it right? Its suposed to be a 500KR and they hade FEs in them. 427 or 428 correct? You would be hard pressed to get a 289 to spin that high and keep the rods inside the block, and the valves where they should be, to do it with a 427? um steel billet and forged titainium with inconnel valves might handle it for a little bit, but an engine built like that wouldnt need nitrous, now would it?

To me its like the FnF 1/4 mile race that takes about 30 seconds to complete. Sure it would be less exciting to see only ten seconds of racing, but come on now...for me the movie ruins the car more because of the inaccurate perception it propagates. People who buy into false BS like that annoy and irritate those who know better... lol..

its played out, so is the ricer fad. The companies making "race" parts for imports are realizing the market is going away. Wings and crap still sell, but few of those cars actually move well.

sure am opinionated arent I?

Well, I guess I "love em". So much I built my own. I built it, I paid for it and I still like it. The simple solution to something that you can't stand to look at is, turn your head or close your eyes. Either requires little effort. I also like other cars too. Not only Eleanors, but anything with wheels and a engine. When I get to go to a show, I enjoy looking at all the cars and talking with their owners. Can't think of ever telling anyone I hate your car. How silly. Seems like its been about 5 years or so since the movie, and Eleanor is still as popular as ever. So you guys and girls out there doing thre "restomod" thing or building "E" bodys, rock on. Do what you want. This is a hobby that should be fun, don't let anyone try to take that away.

i think it definitely depends.  the one in the movie was badass because it was fictitious.  although for the sound they actually did get a REAL gt500 (of course they didnt drive it like that)  i really liked the movie cus i like the cars, and angelina jolie is hot.
the only time i think they look good is when they look exactly like the movie one, the exhaust pipes that fit perfectly, perfect body panel alignment, silver with black stripes.  otherwise they just kind of look half assed, and it is like rice for the mustang.  is it me, but is that front bumper just... UgLy?!!

3 things i like about eleanor:
the color
the hood
the ducktail

Just in case you didn't already know about Unique Performance, they've been producing authentic, shelby certified "Eleanors" for...ohh...at least a good 3 or 4 years now............

I can't lie, I saw the movie, and the car looked like a brazilian underwear model.  But does that mean all brazilians are hot????  The only thing that really gets to me is that now anyone with a fastback thinks the car is worth some crazy stupid cash, damnit I just want a fastback not a "great elenor clone potential".  Next thing you know they will remake the italian job and everyone will be buying up mini coopers...oh wait...they did remake that movie....

I like the new age restomod look of it but I disagree with the people who ruin these cars. The y look good but they want ay too much for them just because it was in a movie!

oh, didnt realize that they actually made 'real' ones.  well those ones are pretty good looking!

these on the other hand...

notice the half-assedness:
no emblem on the back, exhaust still goes out the back even with that side skirt.  GT500 sticker is crooked, hood doesnt fit right with that headlight, trunk is BENT, and oh yeah, its a vert!!!

A clone of a clone is a clone, is it not. Think I'd have give credit to Halicki for his 1974 original version of the movie, were "Eleanor" was created. Looks like a 73 Fastback to me. After the movie, did this cause a increase in value for the 71-73's? If not for him, then they would be no re-make and we would'nt be talking about this now. As far as the GT500E made famous in the Bruckheimer production, I guess that credit would have to go to Foose and his team. And give "Unique" credit for capitilizing on it. Would you rather they used a Corvette or some European car in the movie. Since no "real" Shelbys were used in the film, were these not all clones or re-creations. No, mine is not a "Shelby" or sanctioned "Unique" built car, nor do I try to pass it off as one. Can't remember them building a 5.4 32 valve supercharged ride. Think I said I built her. They are all Mustangs underneath. Cars that I really enjoy. I had fun building her, I have fun driving her, I have fun showing her. Call her what you want, but she' always  "Eleanor" to me.

Maybe it is like the Spinal Tap amp that went to 11... the RPM gauge went to 21?

I will say this though... I was planning on a dark silver with black stripes on my 67 Coupe. But the Eleanor deal has turned me off of that. I am now looking at different colors, even maybe going with a very dark green with flat black racing stripes... Don't know? Will probably change my mind a hundred times before she is painted?!?!?!

Dude, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with your car, hell she's hotter than my prom date was.  All I'm saying is damn you don't have to put (on every fastback add) that it would make a great elenor clone.  It's your car drive it like you stole it if you want.  hell hack it up drop some stickers on it get a bunch of glass and not paint it, throw a giant wing on the deck lid for all I care.

I can appreciate a nicely done car, and based on your pics yours is nicely done.  However there are far to many hack jobs out there to make me appreciate every fastback with a body kit on it.  I do as you say mostly I see an E clone and turn my head in disgust for the most part.  However when I see things that peak my interest I may take a closer look.  (ie exhaust actually exiting from the side)  Hell I'd even give you a hand if you had rear exiting exhaust and no holes in the side, but that's not usually the case.  I mean damn, just hide it behind the rear end if you are going to be that lazy....
