Ok I am sad to say after visting a local car show, and talking to a guy that I realized what I lose with a inline 6, price range and power range. So I got a few questions that I need help with. 1. Should I put in the 260 V-8? 2. What are some highs and lows of the 260. 3. Whats the normal HP and Torque of this engine? 4. Does anyone have one of these for sale or know where I can get on for less than an arm and a leg? 5. Do you have any comments on this swap? Keep in mind I am going to take out my 200 inline 6 and try to put a V-8 in. And my two last question is 6. How are easy are the parts to find on that. 7. Should I keep my 200 in or what?

Get a 289 they are damm near the same motor the 289 has a longer stroke than the 260.

Check summit racing for price on parts you will find most all parts are swappable on the289 and 260 and there are way more used 289s out there

The aqua-dude might want to think before he writes.  The 289 has a lot more in common with the 302 than the 260.  The 289 & 260 both have the same "short" stroke 2 7/8".  But the bore is the difference, the 260 uses an odd bore of 3.8" and thus uses a different block.  The 289 & 302 use a 4" bore and thus the same block and heads and so forth.  The only difference is the crank & conn rods.  And the bottom line is 260 & it's parts are hard to find but 289 parts are easier because most are interchangeable with 302 (5.0) parts.

Hope this helps,

Justin

Well yesterday I got an offer I couldn't refuse, I was offered a 351 cleveland and a 4spd tranny for a 100 bucks. I would be stupid not to take it, because the guy told me he had a buyer who offered him 450 bucks for the tranny, I don't know what kind it was, because I forgot. But the 351 works, and runs, but I am going to rebuild it, this is only my 3rd rebuilt engine to do, so I might have a few questions here and there. So I am sad to say the good ol' 200 six is gonna be a goner. But I might keep it for my new project car or should I say truck. I found a 1956 Ford pick up, its nice, but it needs some work here and there, it currently has a chevy 350, but the last owner didn't discover oil changing, and refilling until it was too late, so I towed it home.

THAT GUY AT THE AUTO SHOW IS A FAG.  IF YOU DO AN ENGINE CONVERSION ON AN OLD CAR, YOU WILL LOSE PROFIT.  YOU ARE BETTER OFF WITH YOUR ORIGINAL PARTS, OTHERWISE THE PRICE VALUE OF YOUR CAR WILL GO DOWN!
