2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill

Zellanor -> 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/13/2007 11:40:08 AM)

Since I got my 05 I have always been looking of a Charger to race. The other day i was sitting at a red lite, minding my own business and a 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t pulled up next to me. The driver cut me a look and I knew that it was on. I smoked the tires on my 5speed gotem good and hot. the lite turned and BAM i was gone. That Charger didn't stand a chance. I was rolling at 105 in 3rd, hit 4th GONE! we pulled into a parking lot and the guy was amazed that he got beat by a 05 Stang. He swore up and down that his 340hp Charger would take me if we ever meet again.

My friend just bought a new SuperBee which puts on 425 hp.  He has less than 1000 miles right now so he's afraid to let 'er rip.  Hopefully he'll be ready after I put some 4.10s and UDPs on.

The Superbee is just teh SRT-8 Charger with yellow paint.

Why'd you smoke up your tires? You drive around with D/R's on a daily basis?

07GTgo -> RE: 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/13/2007 2:20:46 PM)

i knew ud beat any charger, even a nicely tuned mustang will beat an SRT-8. if u look on dodges website it says the srt-8 goes 0-60 in about 5 seconds (same as a stock stang approx.) and runs the quarter in the 13 sec. range (again approx. the same as a stock stang). CAI and a tune and there shouldnt be a camaro, gto, or charger to beat you...when i first got mine, i put on a C&L racer intake and a 93 octane tune, my first race was against a LS2 GTO w/ 400HP, beat him good

You gotta be good at this... you've done it plenty of times?   I mean you're lined up next to this guy and you apparnetly don't have linelock and not worried about sliding into him while you do this, and not jumping ahead any.  All sounds pretty awesome, can't say I could pull that off but suppose I just need more practice.  Also, what about the question about running DRs daily.  are you?  Maybe you can elaborate on this some more.  thanks!

That was a question asking him if he does.  It is down right stupid to get the stock wheels "nice and warm".  You will actually spin more with 'em.

That is what I was thinking, he did a perfect burnout with no linelocks and didn't even move.  If he really did it, please teach me! [;)]

Yeah its alot of HP alright...Alot of weight too!When I first bought my 06GT I did some weight reduction on the car for its first MODS.Did the basics,removed EVERYTHING from the trunk & removed a few other things that were in excess IMO of course.All together I dropped about 200lbs!Anyways,I ran into an SRT8 Charger & smoked him bad!With nothing but a weight reduction!

What do you mean?  You took the SPare out?

Stoenr -> RE: 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/13/2007 8:46:31 PM)

You should be able to beat a stock R/T, thats a given.
SRT-8, thats a different story.

Norse1974 -> RE: 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/14/2007 9:17:21 PM)

There is more than just a tire in the trunk Bro!LOL!I would say a good 60-70lbs can come out of the trunk.....See for yourself.

Get your street tires good and hot?.......

Oooooooookay....................................

blackout -> RE: 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/18/2007 2:59:36 PM)

Yeah, stock for stock we have R/T's.

With those SRT8's they will be very close and is mainly up to your driving(if five-speed).

RetroS197 -> RE: 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/18/2007 3:29:46 PM)

You guys are crazy, an SRT8 stock vs S197 stock  is a big diference. the SRT8 will do quarters at near 13 sec, flat. Yes it weighs roughly 400 pounds more, but 100 hp more also.  I got whooped by an SRT8 on I75 the other day LOL. [;)] It was one of those daytona orange ones with black stripes.

Burke0011 -> RE: 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/18/2007 3:37:48 PM)

Stock for stock, I think from a dig with a good launch, you are golden to hold him off - but from a roll on the highway, you might get stung........

kopfjager -> RE: 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona r/t Kill (1/18/2007 3:48:29 PM)

Great kill!
Actually, I never saw any SRT8 do 13 seconds flat..... only when they are dreamin!
I have raced R/T Chargers and SRT8 Chargers and SRT8 Magnums. They are usually between 13.6 and 14.2 at the track I go to.
Not impressed at all with those big ol family cars. The owners really think they are hard-core muscle cars.
Here is picture of an SRT8 Magnum I raced. The owner was near tears when he could not break 14.0 seconds. I raced an R/T Charger that same day  also he was at 14.2 while racing the mighty Mustang which was turning in high 11 second time slips!
