I'm getting an S281SC in a couple of months, and am considering one of the custom paint options Saleen offers, because I have way too much disposable income.
A few questions:
1. How durable have these paint jobs been in the real world? Are they more durable, less durable, or about the same as standard Ford paint?
2. Is Saleen one's only choice should repairs be necessary?
3. Does anybody make a front bra to fit the Saleen?
Thanks in advance...

I plan to pick the car up at the facility in Irvine, CA, then drive it back to Reno, Nevada via San Jose. I'll need a standard bra at least for that trip...but the clear bra sounds as if it might be a good idea. Now all I'd have to do is find an installer in Reno. Or maybe San Jose.
The Saleen paint jobs are much better than the factory. It's a total disasembly and repaint. It's also much thicker than what Ford uses. In 2,600 miles of driving I've picked up a total of 2 rock chips. Saleen will send paint to a body shop for repair, but I'm almost resigned to sending my car back to Saleen should the worst happen.
After you see the car, you won't want to put a regular bra on it. I ordered the Saleen bra and resold it. With the way it attaches, the metal pieces would rub and do too much damage to the custom paint.
Had I waited to buy mine until this year I probably would have gone with Berrylium. Instead I'll probably get wheels, speakers/amp, and diffusers instead. What a shame

Go Byrillium Not to take anything away from Glenn's Rainbow Extreme car (because it is awesome as well) but man the metallic burnt orange/copper color is just awesome. One of the sexiest looking vehicles I've seen in person lately was a new C6 Vette in that similar shade - I can only imagine how good a Byrillium Saleen looks in person!!!
the saleen paint job is extremely over priced, find a local pro and get a sick house of colour paint... or dupont, you could get a berryiluim or chromaillsunion for aorund 5-7k from a local pro... thats dissassemble and paint, wet sand and buff...
FYI for a truely perfect job your talkin 20k or more... thats a strip to the frame and re-assemble, but it all depends on how far you want to take this thang

I'd really like to know how Saleen does their custom paint. It either has to be a frame off paint job or at the least EVERYTHING has to come out of the car (interior and all) - how else could the do a complete paint job and not get overspray/dust everywhere and kill that "new car" smell?!
Perhaps Glenn would be willing to pull up his trunk liner & door sills to look under the carpet and investigate
When I took a tour of the Irvine facility in October, Saleen's Jim Cross told me that the engine and interior are completely removed for cars receiving custom paint jobs. Apparently most of the custom paints start with a silver base coat, and the actual color is mixed in with clear coat.
