Note: **I'm not very good when it comes to the mechanics of a car so keep that in mind before posting. If you post a reply talking about parts and places of the engine i may not know what you're talking about.
My carb idles really low. I had a mechanic friend who adjusted the choke/idle of the carb because he said it was too high. It was fine at the time, but by common sense a lower idle in colder temp. makes it harder for the car to keep running. My car constantly dies out when i start it up everytime. I have to hold the gas down just to have enough revs for the engine to warm up and idle by itself. I usually have to do this for 5 min.
I think that all i have to do is turn the idle/choke up a tad for the car to idle higher on its own. Only i don't know how. If my memory tells me correctly, there is a screw that you just turn and it changes the idle. However, i dont know what screw to turn (cause i do believe there are some screws on a carb i shouldnt touch), how much to turn it, and in what direction to turn it in.
Then again, this may not even be the problem...but it seems like it to me. Let me know. Thanks.

okay lets see, I don't have any pictures, but if it's a holley go to the holley web page, they have manuals available for download. Either way there are two screws you can use to adjust your "idle" mixture. by the way do you have a manual or electric choke?

that's would be good, if it's a holley look at the front of the carb on top of the fuel bowl it'll say holly on it somewheres

Ivan that is an 2100 autolite, weirdly set up IMO, a needs a refurb!! and to adjust your carb idle u turn that screw circled. But remember to set your choke before starting when cold
Ya i know i need a new carb. I'm in the process of getting one; however in the meantime i still have to drive my car for a couple more days on this carb. I'll play around with the circled screw when the car is on and idling to see how that goes...
BUT...how do i set my choke before starting?
