[align=left]I don't know where some of you have heard that running anything above an 87 octane with a stock tune will leave deposits in the engines because that is wrong. There are plenty of drivers out there who dont own muscle cars or performance cars and choose to run their cars, which have stock tunes, with 91 or 93 octane and do not end up with deposits. It is simply this the higher the octane the cleaner the gas will burn.
No, the cooler it will burn. If you don't have the timing in the tune to take advantage of it, then cooler means more chance for incomplete combustion. I'm not sure how unburned or partially burned gasoline coming out your exhaust pipe gets associated with cleaner anything.
quote:
And as for the discussions of ethanol being put into the gasoline. The ethanol they add to the gas only does the same thing that the additives do. It helps the gas to burn cleaner. The amount of enthanol they add to the gas will not hurt your engine.
No, but it contains less energy per unit volume than pure gasoline, so it lowers your mileage. That's a chemical fact. They put it in there to appease corn farmers, not make your engine run better in any way.

If you have more than one local distribution point (pipeline, refinery, etc) their may be some differences. Most places only have one distribution point which means its all the same other than the detergent pkg. Just buy your fuel from a high-volume station thats a TopTier Certified Brand (they have higher amounts of detergent).
Personally I use Amoco 93 from the local BP. BP kept the Amoco Gas name when they took them over. They had the best rep of any brand in the US in survey after survey. Why do I use it? The detergent pkg has a nice smell when you fire it up.
