well crap, i just filled up my tank with shell premium, 93 octane i believe. Won't hurt the engine to run 93 octane just once with no tune. However i do plan on getting a CAI plus tune to compensate for the CAI + 93 octane fuel. So soon i'll have a use for it.
uhmm.. hmm so all gas is ran from a line all over US huh? hmm... well.. im sure modern marvels does a lot of research and knows what they are talking about.... however.. we have a refinery here just outside of town, conoco. they apparently refine the crude oil into useable gasoline and all the conoco gas stations get their gas from that refinery.... so.... it would seem that the gas you get depends on the refinery it comes from.. and btw.. 10% ethanol is just fine for your car, and it can actually improve HP (from what i had read). I'm amazed chevron is actually less expensive somewhere.. everywhere I've been its been atleast 10-25% more than anywhere else... and here in MT we don't even have them :( but im sure they have good gas (based on mileage/feel after using it for awhile, then switching back to other.. although its possible that was a placebo affect).. and my aunt worked for them for years...

I use BP since it was the only station in town until recently to have 93. The other stations permium was 92. I did notice this morning that the Marathon station now has 93.
Citgo is owned by a man who hates america & americans.
He's probably not the only one who also has some influence on the oil supply business. Just the only one bold enough (or stupid enough) to say so publicly.
The Citgo product itself seems to be of reliable quality, and the Citgo station nearest me has consistently sold the premium below the average local price for that stuff. But recently one of the local Sunoco stations has been undercutting him by a couple of pennies per gallon at the 91 octane level so I'm apt to go there instead.

I don't know where some of you have heard that running anything above an 87 octane with a stock tune will leave deposits in the engines because that is wrong. There are plenty of drivers out there who dont own muscle cars or performance cars and choose to run their cars, which have stock tunes, with 91 or 93 octane and do not end up with deposits. It is simply this the higher the octane the cleaner the gas will burn. And as for the discussions of ethanol being put into the gasoline. The ethanol they add to the gas only does the same thing that the additives do. It helps the gas to burn cleaner. The amount of enthanol they add to the gas will not hurt your engine. Some of you speak as though they are creating a half and half mixture of gas and ethanol. 10% ethanol is good for your car not bad.
Some of you may wonder what makes me so right and so sure of myself. Well I am Lab Technician at a chemical plant in Houston, Tx, one of the biggest areas for refining in the world. I work for an environmental chemist who specializes in these types of things. So if that is not enough proof then I don't know what else to tell you.

You drive a manual, you're just along for the ride in an auto.
With grammar like that you're obviously a lab tech and not a chemist. j/k
Anywho.. Just to chime in, I run Sunoco 93, when I'm in my area (there's one down the corner from my house). When traveling, I PREFER Sunoco 93, but I'll take damn near any 93 I can get since I never know when the next time I'll see it will be..
He failed to mention that a higher oct. fuel burns cooler. That is why it is used to stop pinging. Also that lower oct. fuel has more power or BTU's. Maybe I missed my calling.

I use chevron 91oct Because I have had the best luck with the nozzel not shuting off.
You know how to keep the nozel from shutting off??? Turn the nozel upside down when it starts to do that and finish the fill that way. Ill have to make a video of it one day. It works every time.

I ran Premium in all my rides for years. Even the ones that only required Regular. Finally ran across an article that said something or other that convinced me to PAY ATTENTION and run whatever the ride called for.
Also saw a writeup about a fellow with a Yamaha FJR1300 like mine, he'd been running premium although the bike requires regular. His pipes were getting dirty, and the bike was beginning to run not as good. It was recommended that he run regular. The pipes cleaned up, the bike started running better.
I have been using BP 93 octane with no complaints. After listening to my local radio car guru here in Cincinnati, I am going to switch to Shell V-Power 93 octane. I would use Chevron, but we don't have any here in Southern Ohio.
