I recently bought a 2006 mustang GT and at 6,000 miles my second gear broke. They told me it was my fault and that I drove it to hard. Well since i've gotten it back and now have 8,000 miles on it I grinds in gears on occasion and also won't let me put it in gear at times. I also had a bad allingment from the factory I was wondering if I could have actually broke my trans that fast.

Unless your blasting off from each and every stop I find it hard to belive you are at fault for a broken tranny. T-3650s are known to have bad second gear syncros which might explain why its hard to get into gear at times. I get on my car good fairly often and I haven't had any issues over the last year(knock on wood).

Are you the origanal owner? Did they cover it under warranty? If not contact the Ford consumer complait line and should be able to help you. Or try a differant dealer. Another question, Did you take it back to the dealer that sold it to you. I find that usaually they are more willing to help.
Sorry for such a long delay. I forgot my account name and moved states. Anyway they replaced my second gear and then I put it up for the winter and drove once in awhile racking up like 2000 more miles. I still had problems with it and took it back in and they then replaced my entire transmission. Well then Imoved to a new state and did alot of highway miles being a traveling tech. I now have about 27,300 miles on my car and from about 18000 till now I noticed the same problems I started having in the begging. My second gear grinds if I shift it above 4500 rpms, so I took it in and they said under normal operating conditions my car works just fine so they are not going to do anything. I have about 9000 miles left on my warrenty and can only hope it gets worse so I do not get stuck with the cost. Should ford have to do something or is that a vaild excuse "normal operating conditions". I do not take my car over 4500 in first to often because of fear of braking my car and gas millage. But I do not think I should have to be worried about it I have had this car since new.

I would contact Ford and inform them that they are about to lose a customer. The car should operate correctly through out the entire rpm range. If it wasnt supposed to operate above 4500RPM's then that is where the red line would be. Let us know how it turns out.

that is complete bull****. man, if that were my car i would actually have fun yelling at those guys. that is a lemon and i would definitely call ford's main branch, then the BBB, as well as any other place to file a complaint.
i know when my RX-8 was acting up my local dealer was giving me all these retarded excuses to not warranty my vehicle, so when i threatened to call mazda of n. america and they fixed that right away. my friend told me that dealerships get incentive money every year for positive customer satisfaction.
how do they know you drive it too hard? do they follow you around and record how you drive?
Well I am not going to get rid of it because of the sentimental value involved. My Mother who helped me purchase the car passed away of cancer in may last year and way thinking of adding the ribon decal to my car. As for my problems I am waiting to see what happens with the trany I still have 10,000 miles left and in the next 3,000 I will see what happens and make some calls. The funny thing is that I have not beat on this car at all since they replaced my trany and it still breaks. Ford just can't build a trans.
