First of all an SS is not a Z28 w/ a diff hood.

an SS has the LS1 engine in it and will probably beat a stock '05 GT 90% of the time. Now through in a tune and CAI possibly alittle more and you could prob. hang in there or even win.

the Z28 has the LT1 engine which only runs a 14.0 ET.

So there you go.

You are never allowed to give F-body info ever again.

Hmmmm...call me a liar but im pretty sure the SS's(prior to 2001, so it makes a big difference in the year) have a LS6 intake manifold, which would DEFINETLY give it more power than the LS1 intake on the Z28, as i recall its about 25hp.

You're a liar. With the F-bodies, 98-00 = LS1 manifold and 01-02 = LS6 manifold.

Nice. Couldn't have said it better myself.

*"the Z28 has the LT1 engine which only runs a 14.0 ET"

Gets my vote for post of the year. Everybody should put it in their sig. LOL

I wish the Z-28's only had an LT1

The 3v has a chance vs a LS1...  If the LS1 has the 2 back tires deflated, and is hauling a camaro hauling a BBQ pit.

Not to shabby.  It's enough to take SOME of the civics and Altimas on the road.

What kinda car is that in your sig?  It looks sort of like a Mercury?

from what i have observed and been told, the z28s can often run quicker times than the SSs due to the weight.  the Zs would be more likely to be a stripper car opposed to an SS(leather, power options, stereo, etc.)

ls1 guys, any truth to this?

No. Same car, same engine, same weight, same drag coefficient...do I need to go on?

The 1LE (stripper Z/28) are really only about 100lbs lighter.

well, two LS1's run down the track..

one is lighter by 100'ish' pounds from the factory..

woudlnt it by defintion have a 'slight' advantage? maybe a potentially better ET?

AT LAST LS1 does NOT = LS1
