Default 03 Cobra stalling, Help!!!!

Hello ladies and gentlemen

I was hoping one of you can help me. I purchased an 03 Cobra new, proabley one of the first, I took delivery on July 31, 2002. I started putting bolt-on mods to it about 3 months ago. Accufab throttle body & power inlet tube, Bassani x-pipe & cat back system, C & L 95 mm mass air flow and cold air intake, 6 psi pully kit,Blue oval short throw shifter, and a Diablosport chip. The problem is the car is idling rough and surges from about 250 rpm to 700 rpm while sitting at a light and will actually stall out while driving when you take your foot off the gas and press in the clutchas you approach a stoplight. The rpm's just drop like a rock straight to zero and the engine shuts off. I was doing 60 miles an hour the other day in a pack of cars and went to shift from 5th to 6th and in the time it took to shift the engine died. Not fun!! at 60 mph, no power braked, no power steering, etc..

I took the car back to the dealership but got the typical response, you put aftermarket parts on your car, we can't do anything etc... Now before everyone say its a bad chip I took the chip out and it still does it bu no where near as many times. The problem comes and goes, one day its fine the next it stalls 10 times. Please help, I'm going crazy thanks in advance.

it's probably being caused by your mass airflow sensor. i'd be more than happy to take that motor off your hands for a few hundred dollars.

BCisme,

Thanks for the reply, but it is the stock mass air flow sensor only it is in the C & L 95 mm housing. Plus I took the cold air kit off already and put the stock mass air flow housing back on and the car still stalls. Any other ideas?. I'm thinking of pulling everthing off and starting over, but what a pain in the *ss. Can any one else help, I really am stuck and the car did not do this till i put the mods on.

same thing hapened in my GTand it wasnt modded, but mine did it at speeds of 15 and lower, they told me that the computer was screwed up and that it would not idle correctly, they also said it might have been the air sensor, so they replaced bothe and now its fine!

After I installed the MAC CAI, chip, pulley and Borla cat-backs, my Cobra would stall. After I installed the Bassani headers, O/R X-pipes, BBK TB and had the chip reflashed it never stalled again.

Did you take the screen out of your maf sensor? If you did put it back. Also, clean your maf off with brake cleaner, as it dries with no residue. If your using a K&N filter, often times the oil will dirty the maf up. Those are just some free things to try.
