All I know is that I know my car was expensive, but there is nothing else I would rather have. I test drove a couple of exotics and can honestly tell you I found something wrong in all of them. There is no perfect car. I love my extreme and wouldn't sell or trade it for nothing in the world. Now I can understand the frustrations with some of the members on this forum. If my extreme was acting up and I got no help from Saleen I would be pretty pissed off. The problem with that is the one problem I did have was fixed in 24 hours. How can I be mad at a company that takes care of me that quickly.
Last time I checked this is the Saleen / Roush section! Frank has some points but doesn't have all the facts right about the Sensor and the way it works. I am not saying that there isn't / or is a safety problem. But if you are seated properly in the seat ie. not leaning forward or to the side, and the PASS. Airbag Off light is going on and off, take it to a dealer right away.
My opinion is that he is a disgruntled SSV employee that worked on the Ford GT line, hence his handle No more Fords. No offence.

no more fords>Saleen owners, Frank is not the only person speaking up Letting Us all know, that there is/are Safety problems with the 2005-2007 Saleen cars. I am getting e-mails from people with information that I hope to share with you all at a later date, but as of today, I can not. Those that have sent me e-mails, have asked me to keep them private, so at their wish, I will do so. I do, Thank Frank for speaking up & letting the rest of you know of the Safety Issues that are at hand.

my view on this seat belt/air bag light thing.. our new m6 Vert/ and coupe as well as my jeep srt 8 did/does the same thing. sometimes it happens sometimes it dont so i duno if i would say that makes mustangs/saleens or whatever as JUNK ...
Ok, Let's try this again. When an adult over 100lbs is sitting in the passenger seat with the seatbelt clicked in(locked in),the Passenger Seat Airbag Light flicks ON & OFF while driving. Nobody is leaning sideways, forwards or laying down, that person is sitting up-right in the seat & it goes ON & OFF the whole drive. Therefore it's a Safety issue. My car sits & collects dust in my gargage now because it does NOT work, so I, dont have to worry about the safety of my loved 1 or friend riding with me. This car has been to Ford Dealership & to Saleen Inc.Irvine Ca.plant for 2-weeks & neither can fix it nor the other problems.
I cant speak for no other Saleen Extreme but mine #128 is a LEMON. As far as anybody saying something Negative about the Saleen some of you want to jump on him/her. Nobody on this website is an Expert on this car not even Ford Dealership nor Saleen Inc.(thus my car still isnt working). We are all speaking the Pro's & Con's on the car. I'm personally speaking from Experience anybody on here can call me direct & You can come see with your own eyes.
What Frank, is speaking about is the Truth. I know the Truth Hurts. If you think he is telling you a tale then take your Saleen to a Safety Station & have them go thru your car & see all what YOU will learn.
Bottom line, we have a Kit car with mod's that we all paid a Pretty Penny for that is constantly having troubles. What other car manufacturer do you know that has a 12-month or 12,000-mile ONLY WARRANTY on their product ? That should tell you that Saleen doesnt even Trust this car. I bought mine for a collector's item not a dust magnetic, that I cant drive or take to car shows, whenever I want too.
Again, I'm not here to bash any particular person or person's. I am simply asking & talking to members here to see if they are experience'g the same problems I have been having. Also I am, making sure any other potential buyers or those who want to upgrade & get an Extreme to really think twice about it. We all have spent good $$ on these Saleen's & it's amazing to see how many people are fixing their own Saleen's. What I know now, believe me anybody could go just buy a Stock Mustang & do their own mod's & blow this car away & it would cost far less than $85k.
Back to just asking for those of you that are having troubles with your Saleen to keep e-mailing me direct & we can talk or like I said earlier if you live in So. Calif. call me direct & you & I can meet & you can see for yourself my #128 Extreme dust Collector.

Ditto on our minivan, sometimes the passenger bag off light flickers on and off with someone in the seat.
I'm sorry that anyone has a sense that their car is a "lemon," but at least regarding the airbag issue, if it concerns you *that* much, perhaps one option to consider is installing (or having installed) a manual on/off switch for the airbag(s). I am thinking of installing a switch for other reasons. From what I can tell through some quick web searches, options run the gamut: some companies sell switches and instructions for DIY installation, others will install the switch for you right in your driveway in 90 minutes or so. Switches can be on the dashboard, or hidden completely out of sight, and are keyed so only the owner controls airbag status. If you have a company install it for you, you have to fax a form to NHTSA first, but given the angst in some of these posts, a switch seems like a small investment of time and money. A web search will turn up lots of info, here is one random source: http://www.airbagonoff.com/ No affiliation, not suggesting you do this, yadda yadda etc., etc.

DB28, can we all agree, YOU GOT A LEMON!! Let's get past that FACT and move on...we "other" Saleen owners LOVE our cars and DONT have LEMONS #777 S/C. If there are safety issues I'm sure they will be revealed. As for a 12/12,000 Warranty, Saleen knows damn well how these cars will be driven and does not want to be responsible for some thrill seekers modding these cars and blowing the engines and then wanting Saleen pay for them. As far as "Frank" the mystery man goes, how do we know that's not you too!! "Happy" Saleen owners fell free to back me up!!

Saleen Extreme Owners, Thank you for the many e-mails that I am getting and I will talk with each 1 of you individually on e-mails. I wont get into specifics of what's going on in this FORUM.
elburrito99 You too, are seeing a pattern with Saleen, as we all read the MANY different problems with these Brand New cars.
slammer1 Thank you, I didnt take what you said as negative and I agree about this Saleen Mustang. I am not a FORD person, but when I saw these 2005-2006 Saleen Mustangs, I too had to get 1. I was so happy and told many of my friends about it & sent pictures thru e-mail. I wish I could re-take pictures of it & put it on e-mail version, so I can post them here. Unfortuantely, my car is a gargage dust collector. It wont start. The car is always dead. It was down at Saleen in Irvine Ca. for 2 weeks and guess what I am still having the same issue. The Steve you may have talked to works in the Warranty Dept alongside of Bill Vaughn. It's not Steve Saleen, believe me he has been left numerous messages from me.
SAR Hi, nothing against you, but if you work for Saleen Corp Inc.in Irvine,Ca., all I can do is to ask you to talk to Bill Vaughn when he gets back in & ask him about the 2006 #128 Extreme w/Scenic Roof car & you will get the full run down. I will not, go into it on here, it's being handled a different way now. Or maybe talk to Karl Mahl (Retail Brand Manager For The Western Region) or Tom Ryan(1 of your V.P.'s) it's a serious matter at this point.
sam the jeep man I hope you the best, but seriousily e-mail me, we need to talk. Are you in Calif ?
Other Saleen owners, those of you with the warranty problems, just know that as a car collector myself like many of you. Every time you have a warranty claim & have to go to the dealership or Saleen with getting it fixed that your VIN # & Saleen ID# is recorded in the data base. Therefore your car has a Bad history & nobody is going to pay top dollar for a problematic car. As I read some of you guys/gals are doing your own work on your cars You are Voiding your warranty. Please take a minute & think about how much you spent on this car & all this extra work you have to do on it.
Sorry & Thank All of you again for the e-mails & keep them coming, I will Not communicate on the Forums about this issue anymore. Power in the Hands of The Few ?

This was one of your earlier posts in this thread. It is obvious to everyone here that you have an agenda with Saleen - either to get more help with forming a class action lawsuit or get documentation for an improved settlement. Either way, it started with 'electrical' problems (battery not holding charge) and now the dreaded passenger airbag issue. This cloak and dagger routine is getting old (as others have stated).
You knew the warranty offered on the E when you purchased it. Stop whining and sell your car, go buy a Yugo and throw your lawyers in that direction. I'm sorry, but I can't stand litigous people who sic lawyers at the drop of a hat. Good luck with your lottery. The rest of us Saleen owners have a forum to participate in, not an agenda.

COuld buy a GT and supe it up for less, but when I go to sell the car how much am I going to get back? I see cobras and modded GT's with 20K in work sell for nothing. We understand that your upset and that maybe you did get a lemon. That doesn't mean there is a safety issue with ours.
PolkThug & abbas>I am in a Lemon Law case already in progress, just letting other Potential Buyers & others know that Spending Extra $$ on a Brand New car to make it run right is ridiculous. Also, to let all of them know how they too will be treated by Ford Motor,Saleen & Ford Dealerships(this treatment isnt just in this Topic others have complained how Ford Dealerships & Saleen treats them just as well). There are people right now, that have been buying these 2005-2007 Saleens & having so many problems with them they are trading them in & taking a Huge $$ loss. I was informed on 1 of my e-mails that a 2007 Saleen SC car with 1500miles on it, with 5-reported warranty problems on it already, was traded in to a dealership in New Jersey for another type of car. The owner of that Saleen got fed up with going back & forth with the Ford Dealership & Saleen try'g to get it fix.
Chuckdoc>You & I are both tired of this topic, but it's not solely for you or me, that's why I have not sent you or anybody else from this forum a direct e-mail to talk to you/them & get your/their expertise about this have I ? Heck, I did e-mail Saleen & those experts had my car for 2-weeks & as you know it's still not fixed. If you choose to click on this topic that's solely on you. But I have been dealing with this crap with Saleen Inc, Galpin Ford & Ford Motor Corp. since Aug 29th 2006(4-days after I bought it from Galpin Ford). The Electrical problem is a Major problem with any car, afterall it helps start & run the car & yes the AirBag is included in Electrical problems. So guess what, I will air it out thru this Forum where other folks can choose to read about this or not. Sorry if you feel this post is offending you, but that is not my intention. Enjoy your P.J.(you can drive it whenever you want, take a moment & think if you were in my shoes with the same type of problems with your P.J. wouldnt you want to let your fellow Mustang Friends, family, forum members know)? Have a Good Day.
281sc060777> hahaha you got JOKES. But dont include me on them. If you would've spent some more $$ maybe you could've bought an Extreme, then you might know what I was talking about. Your SC has a 3yr 36k mile warranty there is a difference, just as there is in power. (Of course your SC runs great & my SCE just sits there dead). What do you need back up for ? Stand up on your own 2 feet. You have your right to speak what you feel. Just as I do. Are you & smoothy the same person ? Please no games. Thanks.
Again, I am not on here putting nobody down just getting a point across.
To All Have a Great Day/Nite.

S281 E> What I paid is MSRP on an Extreme with Scenic Roof & Chrome wheels, I live in California & probably have higher tax & license fees then you do. As far, as you NOT having problems with your Extreme, didnt you post your own TOPIC> Electrical problems ? In that post you stated your car shut off on you while driving it & you had Saleen send you another wire to repair your own Extreme. So you got a touch of my problems on my Extreme.
Now a Good Day/Nite to all.

No, 281sc06777 and I are not the same person. I own an '06 extreme and I guess I'm lucky I haven't had any problems with it. In reference to your previous comment about bringing it to a safety station, my insurer made me do that (to verify the car was actually a Saleen, as well as make sure it met Canadian safety standards as it was an imported vehicle) and no problems were revealed. Our build #s aren't that far apart (mine is #123), perhaps mine is a Wednesday car and yours a Friday?
smoothy> I'm glad you have been fortuate, not to have any problems yet, with your Extreme. I hope you dont. It's not a fun ordeal dealing w/Ford Dealerships & Saleen, believe me. When mine did work for the 1st 4days I had it, I was loving it. I've been patient with Saleen & Ford for quite some time but that gets old real quick. Great phone/Lip Service for last 5months from Saleen,Galpin Ford & Ford Motor Corp, but when it comes down to finding the solution to fix their OWN PRODUCT they just couldn't get it done. That's why I cant understand why none of the 3 didnt take responsibility & just buy this car back ? It's so ridiculous, that it's funny & makes a person mad at the same time.
Good Luck & Enjoy your Extreme.

No problems on my S281 SC and oh yeah I am loving that 3 year/36,000 mile warranty even though I have not needed it as of yet, it is a plus to have it. I love my car, it was worth every penny. Everyone at Saleen has been more then helpful with me and my investment. To bad some of you have not had the same luck, all I can say is if you are so unhappy buy a Camary I hear the quality on them is really good too. I think I may be investing in another Saleen automobile in the near future, hopefully many of you will be doing the same. Cheers!
Nitehawk422> Maybe Saleen,Ford Motor or Galpin will sell you this #128 Extreme pretty cheap with LEMON on the title. I see from your previous statements you like fixing on your own New cars. This 1 only has 1634 miles on it. Good Luck with your investments.

I did have a problem, but Saleen took care of it quickly. I could have taken it to a dealer to be fixed but the closest dealer is an hour away. Since the fix was easy I decided to do it myself.
