I'm getting some interesting e-mails about a few of you having the Passenger Seat Airbag light flickering off & on with somebody sitting in the seat. I guess I'm not the only 1 with that Safety Issue neither. Just be careful not to have anybody in the passenger's seat because if it is flicking off & on, that means there's a short in your system & it can Deploy at anytime or Not even work, if you were to get in an accident.

Be Safe.

I only have the S281SC (not the E), but I'm still waiting to see what these issues are.  Most of what I've seen reference to thus far seem to be Ford (not Saleen) tech issues or Ford dealership issues.

For what it's worth, I've heard bad things about Galpin's service for Saleens from more than one person.  I will be taking mine shortly to Buerge Ford for regular maintenance, and will post if I have have a remarkable experience (good or bad), since I know we have several SoCal Saleen owners in this forum.  I heard that Buerge is trying to court Saleen and Roush owners and even hired some former techs from Chicane Sport (which is a shop I would highly recommend for all Mustang owners).

The passenger seat airbag light goes off and on depending on if there is someone in the seat, the weight of the person in the seat, the position of the person in the seat, and if the person has a seatbelt on.  It's a self monitoring system that goes off and on when it decides its best to do so.  It’s not a short and it won't randomly deploy.

"Standard occupant classification sensing builds on the strength of the Personal Safety System™ to tailor deployment of the front-passenger air bag. If the passenger seat sensor detects no weight – or very little weight, as for a briefcase – the passenger air bag is automatically switched off. If more weight is on the seat, as for a small child, the air bag remains deactivated and an instrument panel light alerts the driver. If a heavier adult is in the passenger seat, the air bag automatically switches on."

elburrito99> Good choice, I know the owner down at BUERGE FORD in West L.A./Santa Monica his name is Jim Buerge. He's a Great guy, his service writer is Jason for these types of exotic cars & his tech. is Mark & yes, Mark is from Chicane Sport & he does know his stuff.
The Passenger Air bag flicking on & off, so I have been told is a Saleen issue(think about your Saleen seat covers, that's all the info, I will give you on that for now).

BlueOval66> My buddy is 6' 2" 245lbs & others that have sat in my passenger seats were ALL Adults over 100lbs. Light flicks on & off constantly. Yes, the air-bag can Deploy because it is shorting in & out, then again, if you get in an Accident if it is in the OFF mode it will NOT Deploy.

I am NOT going to argue, just making a point that Yes it can.

I would guess that the weight sensor may be a little out of place from changing the seat covers.  If the light blinks even when there is nobody in the seat, look under the seat and make sure the wiring harnesses are firmly together.

Side note:  I recently ditched my seats for Corbeaus!

Not trying to argue at all.  The sensors that deploy the airbag aren't under the seat.  Only the ones that turn the system on and off.  It's not going to go "pop" because the light is going on and off.  Saleen use's the Ford Factory seat frames curious why they would point the finger at Saleen.  The system would turn itself off with an adult sitting in it if the seat position indicates that if the airbag went off it'd do more harm then good.

If your light is constantly flicking on off on off on off then you obviously have a problem.
Hope you get it fixed!  I had a front passenger seatbelt that was sticking and had to wait a couple weeks for the part to come in.  It was wierd driving people around with two people in the back and only me up front...

Hello all my name is frank
i have been sitting back and watching all your posts about the saleen vehicles, especially the extreme
i cannot tell you what my previous employment was or whom it was with, but i can tell you all that you have bought the worse peice of automotive junk ever sold to the american public.
you are all semi right about the seat sensors, but that is what saleen wants, to keep you all confused and no place near the truth.
the truth of the matter is, that the sensors came installed in the mustangs that saleen purchased from ford.
saleen took all the foam and cloth material off the stock seats and replaced it with heavier form and leather.
the  stock senors are NOT calibated for all the extra weight of the new mateials.
saleen was aware of this, knowing full well that this is a major safety issue, but chose not to replace the senors with the proper re-calibrated sensors.
whom ever is sitting in these seats is at great risk, because the stock sensors cannot compute the proper weight for deployment.
the first person that reports this potential national safety issue to the proper federal agency will potentially save many lives !!!
i will fill you in on more as i see the need to with your very valid questions and concerns

a very concerned american citizen

Frank, to play devil's advocate, if this was such a serious issue, why didn't you drop a dime or have someone you know do it, if you were afraid of getting caught?  Now that you no longer work for wherever it was you worked at, there should be no risk of retaliation.  If you don't want to go to the government directly, how about through Ralph Nader or someone like that?  I'm not trying to question your integrity or honesty, but if this was such a concern to you, why wait this long and then post cryptic messages on a message board rather than trying to take action when you first knew of the problem?

smoothy> What Frank has just said is only some of the stuff happening with these Saleen cars & trucks. Alot of Owners have bought these cars & after going thru the problems & headaches have just traded them in & lost $$ on them. I will not trade mine in & take a loss of No kind, it's a matter of principal now. I still think of the V.P. of Saleen & Retail Brand Mgr's for the Western Region, comment & lack of customer service attitude. Their comment makes Frank aka NO MORE FORDS seem all the more truthful of Saleen's lack of concern for the American consumer.
There are other issues with the 2005-2007 Saleen Mustangs & 2007 Saleen F150 too. Again, I cant get into it on here because of restrictions on me,at this time.

no more fords> Well put & Thank you for hitting the nail right on the head.

PolkThug>The passenger seat airbag light flickers ON & OFF  when somebody is in the seat & the car is being driven(with the seatbelt on of course). It stays off with nobody in the seat. Nothing is loose underneath the seat.

i appreciate you not questioning my honesty or integrity.
without going into detail, a very close family member has signed non-disclousure documents from a certain company. the document prevents this person from revealing any of the companies procedures or policies.
that does not prevent me from doing so, especially when i see the potential for a safety hazzard.
if you prefer, i will just continue sitting and reading all your posts, and not get involved when i see a potential safety issue arise.

Well than that means Roush has the same problem, since the same company produces the seat replacement parts for both companies.

Frank,
If you have legitimate, substantiated information regarding safety concerns for a consumer product, you are entitled to advise the public.  Even if you were bound to the confidentiality clause -- which you apparently are not, since you did not sign the confidentiality agreement -- courts will not enforce such clauses when it comes to the disclosure of facts which, if concealed, would likely lead to iminent harm of consumers.

Also, I would suggest that you lose credibility from the start when you begin one of your first posts on this website with such unsupported hyperbole as: "i can tell you all that you have bought the worse [sic] peice of automotive junk ever sold to the american public."

My $.02.

Frank, your friend had better talk to an attorney because he obviously does not understand the facts. Public safety issues do not fall in non-disclosure rights. If you personally know of a defect that would possibly cause bodily harm to the consumer and you do not take action, you can and will be held personally responsible. That is why the US government created the "whistle-blowers" act to protect the person identifying the problem. i.e. Enron.

Stang_Racer>Nothing against you, but let's stick to Saleen cars on this Topic.

no more fords>Saleen owners, Frank is not the only person speaking up Letting Us all know, that there is/are Safety problems with the 2005-2007 Saleen cars. I am getting e-mails from people with information that I hope to share with you all at a later date, but as of today, I can not. Those that have sent me e-mails, have asked me to keep them private, so at their wish, I will do so.
I do, Thank Frank for speaking up & letting the rest of you know of the Safety Issues that are at hand.

So what you're basically saying is "I know a lot of really, really bad things about your Saleens, some of which involve serious safety concerns.  I hope I can share them with you in the future, but I'm not sure if I will ever be able to do that.  So just keep reading my posts until then."

Is that right???  Is it just me or does that seem absurd?  Are you prosecuting a civil action right now?  Are you trying to conjure up a class action suit?  Are you negotiating a private settlement outside of litigation?

It seems to me that the purpose of this thread is to rattle some cages, hope that disgruntled owners come looking for answers, and then use those those owners in furtherance of your lawsuit/negotiations with Saleen.  If that's the case, shouldn't we all be adults here and be open about this?  Because this cloak and dagger stuff ("there are very bad things out there, but you have to trust me, because some day I'll lead you to the truth") seems to be getting a bit old.
