A few weeks ago I was driving to my house and a neighbor was out so I stopped the car and talked to him for a while. When I was talking to him some of the neighborhood kids (5 to 6 years old) came over to see if my son was in the car. One of the kids has a cast on his hand and I think he rubbed it against my car leaving small scratches on it. I have the Torch Red paint job and the scratches are small and white. I don't know anything about paint or eliminations these small scratches and the are really making me mad. Any advise on how to get rid of them?
If the scratches are only in the clear coat, you can probably was/buff them out. If you choose to buff them electrically, be sure not to go to deep into your clear coat by not moving the buffer around (always keep it moving). Also, you can just wax them out with a couple hundred coates of wax (wait for a nice warm day, pull out a lawn chair and some beers and wax the scratches till they vanish).
If the scratches actually go into the paint, it will take more work, and red is extremely hard to match from what I have been told. Either way, I don't have enough knowledge to advise you on this. You may want to call a local paint shop (that you trust) for ideas.
Also, sometimes clear coat scratches can look like the are into the paint when they are not.
Best of luck ... hope it isn't too bad.
