I am having an XM Roady XT hard wired into my 2005 Mustang, Shaker 500. I have done searches and mostly see Sirius installations.
My installer is getting the FRD-04 PIE adapter so I can avoid having to use the FM modulator.
Two questions: There has been some confusion about whether the adapters work with the 6 CD changer. Has anyone had experience with this? This adapter has the 16 pin connector on one end. Do all our Shaker 500's have this to mate with?
What is the best mounting place for the antenna and satelite (Roady XT) unit? Thanks
This is what I used for my Skyfi but I believe it'll also work for the Roady. My antenna is mounted on the dash (you may be able to see the little dot in the picture). Some people also mount the antenna in the middle of the back windshield (inside). The reception works fine this way.
Thanks -- are you happy with it mounted that way? I was hoping to mount it between the vents right above the radio but may have to have the front panel drilled.

Yes, I'm happy with it in that spot but it does stick out kinda far. (may be able to tell from this photo). The Roady is a lot smaller so it probably wouldn't be as bad. I've never seen anyone mount between the vents so I'd be curious to see what it looks like if you do it. I'd just be afraid of ruining the dash. I ruined the dash in my last Mustang by trying to mount with adhesive.
i got the same setup with my skyfi only thing u gotta worry about it dumb ppl sitting passnger hitting it.i also got the pie piece where i hit aux button and xm turns on it works great but depending on where u wire it u might get an alterntor whine which sucks.
