Just wanted to start a thread for all extreme owners. How many of you are planning to mod your extreme? What are you planning on doing? Anyone that doesn't even have an extreme what would you do?
I second that. The PJ Saleen Watt's Link setup makes a big difference to the feel of the car - more planted. This is the answer to IRS for the S197 in my opinion.
Mine is a bit older than your S281E and other new ones.
But, early spring I would like to go with an upgraded intercooler and a quarter-inch smaller pulley with a tune. After driving mine in the summer for any significant amount of time, my intercooler temp goes up to 160....I can't help but think how that's hurting the amount of air getting into the piston's kill zone, so to speak.
Pulley is a no brainer for me, though I haven't researched in detail....I do know a safe tune will need to accompany it.
SAR will know more about it, but isn't there a new tune that Saleen can do to make the E 600+HP? Better keep up with the 08 Viper and the supercharged Z06!
The car is an 06. Had the computer reflashed from Saleen to get the 07 tune. The two kits I am aware of will be a 575hp and 600hp kit. JDM has put together a little kit that pushes the car up to 650hp but don't want to do it yet since it will void the warranty. The kit is $2200 though. How much will the PJ suspension be? What would be better the PJ suspension or full Griggs suspsnension and K memeber? SAR, any plans on putting the PJ suspension on the extremes in the future? SAR, I'm sure Saleen has some prototypes they have been playing with. How much power do you forsee the extreme motor handling?
Well, I have been speaking with one of the experts at JDM and these are the modes he listed out for me:
SCT xcal 2 programmer JDM cold air kit C&L intake pipe JDM motor mounts SCT 2400 mass air/harness 60# injectors with harnesses Ford Racing Spark plugs ATI 6 Rib Crank pulley Gates Belt Kooks Long tube headers and X pipe
Should put me around 550 to the wheels. What does everyone think? Good idea? Never dealt with JDM before, but I have only seen very happy customers.
That's a whole lot of lovin'......throw some good traction in the mix so you can pull the front wheels off the ground at least once.
On a serious note.....have you pondered on the warranty issue more? I wonder what the driveability (if that's a word) difference will be. That's adding what........about 100 horses to the rear wheels.
If you do decide to do it, get it dynoed beforehand (if you haven't already) and afterwards....that way you'll know exactly where you stand before and after.

I recently ordered the JDM Stage 2 Kit and love it. I'll be pushing 475 RWHP on stock internals. JDM has sold over 500 of these kits running at that HP on stock internals, and there hasn't been one report of a blown motor. JDM is highly recommended!

Thanks guys! I will keep you all informed of what I do. The warranty on the car is only one year so I might just upgrade the air inlet tube, throttle body, and CAI all from JDM. When warranty expires in August would do the rest. I have been informed that the saleen blower should get me 650 to the wheels. Anything more I would need a different blower or do a turbo setup. So goal is to get to 650 RWHP. We'll see where the car ends up. I will definitely get it dynoed before doing ANYTHING to the car. The should dyno at 450 to the wheels.
Day dark, mine blew, but i also had meth injection and a sct big air maf now i'm trying to get the car through warranty, (hope it works), but the jdm kit really works you'll love it, ahh also what size are the tires you are using and what wheels are you using, good luck. thanks.

I have HRE 545R flat black on the stock Saleen tires. So 20 x 9 in the front and 20 x 10 in the back. 275/35/20 in the front and 275/40/20 in the back. Polkthug, I know you run a lot of JDM stuff would you prefer the JLT kit or would you rather have the JDM cold air kit, C&L Inlet tube, and SCT-2 (All from JDM). Do you need the JDM motor mounts to fit the C&L inlet tube? I figured I would also get a throttle body when I get everything else above. What would you recommend?
The C&L tube may fit under the Saleen SC hood, I'm not sure. I'm currently using the original JDM solution which uses the stock air tube, however, I have my eye on the Extreme tube.
I'm not sold on the aftermarket throttlebodies yet. The tests I've seen have compared an untuned car versus a throttle body plus tune, which proves nothing. I'd have to see a comparison with a car that was precision tuned to start with.
"Extreme Tube"? What is this? I know I should leave the car alone, but I just want to do a couple of mods to add a little more power. Around where I live you have a couple of 700hp evo's and STI's. Just want to show what some american muscle can do.
