have not instaled one but looked at one and alarm as well. The problem I found is you need a programed key that is in a special box that tells the vehicles computer it is okay to start the vehicle. Remember the ignition key has a program chip that allows the car to start. The additional key is $40.00 plus the module for the system then the system its self. I was not willing to keep adding that much additional electronics to avoid any problems.
Soo you have that many enemies or just that cold outside(lol)? Good luck just wanted to give you some food for though. Also most alarms are plug and play it is the optiond you need for the fun stuff. Check out directed electronics.com the make most of the alarms on the market and then some
It would be a really cool adition. Did not mean to throw awrench at you but just wanted to give you something to think about. Like I said try check it out with directed electronics get the info from the pros. Have Fun
A remote start can be a challenge to install if you are not very comfortable with wiring diagrams and testing wires with a multi meter. I had mine installed perfessionally. it took them a good half a day to do. So I would definitely recommend getting it installed unless you are real cool with wiring and stuff. And yes there are a number of parts required besides the remote starter unit (relays, bypass module, etc.). Directed electronics will have a list of parts needed usually and a wiring diagram. I have the Viper 771 and like it very much. It is a remote start and alarm with 2 way remote. Hope this helps some.
well...the little part that i didnt mention was that I am a Best Buy employee so it came to me at a discounted price, but even so...having it installed was a must for me. I am comfortable doing stereo installs and basic work on cars, but that wiring was intimidating for the remote start haha. Our best guys in the install bay can usually do 2 remote starts a day, but the newer cars tend to be harder to work on than the older ones. many of the remote starts they sell include labor price in the overall price of the remote start, but just look into the other peices you need to get it all done because thats the "hidden cost" that can easily be overlooked. I think getting the remote start/alarm, parts and install woulda run around 400 or so....just a ball part as i dont remember where i put my reciept to actually look at the prices and stuff.
This is not possible for a manual obviously right? lol I always wondered if there is a way to do it with manual trannys.
It's possible but not legal in all states...
If you can find a clutch lock, then that'll allow the remote start to start the vehicle. I'll find how how he did it, but a buddy of mine purchased a clutch lock that easily locks the clutch down the to floor. You push it down and then pull a small lever right under the lip of the dash and it locks to down. You pull the same lever to release it.
its not that complicated with a manual tranny, leave it out of gear, then straight wire the clutch inhibitor fuse if it exists on the 05s, im getting a new security system and I was wondering the same thing, what i mentioned above is how we did it on a friend of mines car

This is what I got for Christmas and the total cost was $209 installed. The Mustang takes some type of an alarm bypass module and I haven't had it installed yet so I'm not so sure what it bypasses. I'll know more tomorrow. I've had one on my Nissan Maxima for 10 years and love it.

Ok, I called the place where my wife bought this device and they said the bypass unit is in fact a bypass for the chipped key not being in the ignition when the car is remote started. It's supposed to be installed next Wednesday.
I had one installed at the dealer yesterday. They put in the bypass with an uncut key that is "keyed" to your car. I had the dealer do it as it is now covered under my factory waranty. Paid close to 600 but it was worth it in my mind not to save a few buck only to have an electrical problem and have the dealer blame the autostart
Sooo it is possible to have this autostart feature in a manual ??????? Not sure anyone really answered that question...I always thought it wasn't possible...

No, this can not be installed in a manual. It can be installed to work properly by removing the switch that determines when the clutch is pressed (allowing the car to start while the clutch is not pressed), but it is illegal and dangerous. The problem comes when you leave the car in first gear and accidentally start, the car will start and drive off un-manned. As for the install, if you are comfortable with a radio install this will not be a problem for you. I installed one in my previous car, that i purchased from best buy, and it only took me about an hour and a half. Just follow the directions carefully and make sure you check everything twice before you try starting it.
im not sure if its possible for our car since i have never seen it with our car but my friend had it on his 03' mach1 which was stick. i didnt know he even had it till we were at dennys and he told me to go check on his car after we were done eating and i see him walking fast out of dennys and his car turn on. ill ask him how he got it to work in his car next time i see him
