Default header kits?

I want to get headers for my 05gt. Is there any good header kits out there. I kinda looked into the dynatech's. They look really good but I notice they come with cats. I want to get a kit with no cats, but not sure which one. How much difference do the cats make with sound? Like, do the cats on the dynatech headers reduce sound by much. I live in Canada so emmisions is not a problem. When you get headers do you need a tune for them. I don't have one now but I will be getting one when I pull the car outta storage in the summer. If I get a system with no cats, how does that work with the O2 sensors and engine lights. Which would be better as for the h-pipe or X-pipe. I did some searches but I find it easier to just ask, thanks!

The best header brands are Dynatech, American Racing, and Kooks.

All of them should offer kits with Cats or without cats.

The cats do decrease the sound by quite a bit. Running no cats is LOUD.

You usually do not need a tune for headers, but it can't hurt.

If you get a system with no cats, you have two choices: 1, you could get a tune that turns off the second pair of O2 sensors. Or, 2, you could get a set of O2 sensor simulators, also called "Mil eliminators".

X-pipes have a flow advantage over H-pipes, but honestly on a stockish engine the difference is not huge. Some people like the sound of one over the other. Personally, I don't care. Either one sounds mean as hell.

+ 1 with Al. I think you will be very happy with your tubes. I sure am! If you want the kooks (thats what I have on mine) PM me, I have some new ones I can let go at a good price.

So, there is a pretty big difference between cats and no cats noise wise? Do the cats decrease the power at all? I have flo-pro mufflers on right now, and it sounds really nice. I want it to be louder, but I also don't want my car so loud you can hear it from a mile away, just attract more cops, lol. What would be the cheapest place to get these headers? RPMoutlet is the cheapest I found so far for dynatech's. With the tune, what do you guys suggest. I see there are a lot of different tunes out there, I would also be gettin the CAI as well. I will never be adding forced induction on this car. After the headers and tune, would be gears and some sticky tires, lol. Do these headers bolt right up to the factory exhaust after the cats? I would be installing these myself as well.

Dynatech does not offer a catless x pipe..

I would o with American Racing or the kooks. American racing headers are a full Long length header while the kooks are a mid-length header.

I have the ARH 1.75" primary LTs and offroad X pipe and love them. They sound mean ashell andput down some awesome dyno numbers

PS: Can we do something about all these header threads.. I think this is the 20th one this past month. All are the same damn thing. Maybe we can put them all into one thread and stickey it. I think me and Al have made 30 posts each about headers in the last couple of weeks

Yes there is a pretty big difference between catts and no catts, with a catted system you loose a little compared to a no catts setup but either way you will have nice gains. As far as wanting it loud but not to loud; forget about it not being loud catless. It will piss off your neighbors at 6am with start up but you will grin with joy at the roar every time.

Which of the 3 are the easiest to install? People with the catted system, how much louder does it make your car? If you don't loose any hp with the cats, then I'm not gonna worry about it too much.

I have the Kooks L/Ts with the Catted X. Along with my Magnaflows you can hear it a few blocks away. It's loud and sounds mean as hell!
