No. You will have to use a polish in order to remove / reduce the oxidation. A carnauba wax is mearly a short-term (low durability) Last Step Protection (LSP). (Some carnauba waxes contain silicone which advance their durability)
Example from a 1991 Nissan Maxima hood. The left side (of the tape line) was polished with Poorboys SSR 2.5 on a Porter Cable running at speed 6 using an Orange P2 pad from Excel. The right side is un-polished and shows the difference. This car was severaly scratched / marred. Now its not great, but looks tons better.

I used a clay bar on my car once. After that, I realized that it was a sh*tload and a half of work and my car was dirty as hell the next day just like every other time I washe d it. that's why I used it once. but damn, it was clean as can be for that one day.

I just bought an '05 Expedition and I'm sure the previous owner never waxed it since it felt like sandpaper. I bought the Meguires Clay bar kit and it came out amazing. I was shocked how smooth it felt after the clay. And as big of a vehicle as it is, it only took me about 3 hours to wash it, clay, wash again, and polish (Zaino Brothers). Needless to say, I'm very impressed with the clay.

Yeah claying is great! I've been talking a lot of customers into claying lately. I've even given a couple of demonstrations! I just clayed a few vehicles last week and the word really got out. I did about 7 full details last week and got about 4 booked already for next week. That isn't counting my normal washes and basic details.
first off if you drop a clay bar on the ground, you're screwed...what i did was bought a mcguires clay kit for 10 bucks and ripped the clay in half, accidentally dropped half and now im using the other half ftw....can i overuse the one peice of clay and make it scratch the paint?

If the clay gets too dirty you want to throw it away. Just knead it to a clean section, if you can't find anymore clean sections it is no longer any good.
