Just want to know if other drivers hear a thumping noise when they drive over a bump or in a pothole? The noise appears to come from the trunk. Initially, I thought the noise was from a something I had in my trunk but since then I have cleaned the trunk and secured the wrenches that come with the car. I even thought that maybe the spare tire was loose or the wing on the car is bouncing off the trunk but they are both secured. I have looked all over the truck and can NOT figure out where this noise comes from?
In the cold weather I have noticed that the suspension in the front is very VERY crickety and creeky when I go over speedbumps, etc. Like, embaressingly loud. In the hot it doesn't do it. Any idea if this can be fixed?

SAleen is a so cal co. They don't test bushings in sub zero temps. It appears you guys are stuck with these noises. There is a recall on the front swaybar but does not sound like the symtoms you two are having.

I've said it before many times, and I'll say it many more - I a firm believer that this is the price we pay for such a LOW and TIGHT car (suspension wise). I've come to accept them as normal characteristic sounds of such a fine automobile.
Ack sub zero no way! I'm talking sub 45 degrees or so. I know it gets that cold in Cali too, hell I'm in Texas! Can you guys expalin the "Thunking" sound more? I'm not sure that's what mine is. Mine is more like..... creaking... can't really explain it.
Also, what was the recall for the say bar for? What are the symptoms?

I have an aftermarket pan hard bar in the rear. So with all the squeaking, my driver's side tail pipe hits the bracket for the bar. I've had the exhaust modified twice. Nebraska gets real cold, so I get lots of noise. Just something you get used to over time.
It isn't the trunk. It is the suspension. No soft cushy bushings for us.
I really doubt it is the suspension... I mean you may be right but this really sounds like something is loose. Picture your spare tire not being bolted down and just bouncing around. It is that loud and notiecable.
Mine comes from the front - I know in the regular 05-07 section many people are reporting this sound - but it is coming from the FRONT of the car - at first I thought it was front and back but careful listening over past week confirms just the front. 9K miles on the car (Saleen suspension) but it only started doing it within the past 1000 miles.
Recall on the front sway bar??? What is that about? Info?

I had the "thunk" in the front end after about 1500 miles. Took it to my local dealer and they said I needed a new end link. The part came in but my car is now in storage. I will find out in the spring if the problem is resolved. It defineatly is not just stiff suspension.

Exactly the same here. Sounds like coming from both sides in the FRONT. Sounds like someone walking on really old wooden floors or something. CREAK CREAK when I go over a speedbump. But only in the cold weather, not in warm!

Well guess what folks? I THINK I fixed this..... thanks to one of my buddies from one of the other Stang forums......
[MTAS - thanks Dave!!]
Told me that he had this problem (CLUNK going over most bumps) in his 05 way back and that he fixed it on his - hasn't come back since.
See attached picture - it has to do with the end links but NOT because they are bad necessarily - because a bolt is loose.
The yellow circle - place a ratchet on there and set it to LOOSEN (yes loosen)
Yellow line - use a regular wrench of whatever is handy to hold the nut in place while you work the ratchet. Do it on both sides and down low where the end link attaches to the sway bar.
My bottoms (on sway bar) were both tight. Passenger side, I got the most MINUTE movement and that was it. Driver's side?? I got a 1/4 or almost even a half turn out of it.
Raining bad outside but took the car for a two minute spin - going out of and into my apt development there is some bumpy pavement that definitely cause that sound. I swear I didn't hear it
Will do more road testing tomorrow but I THINK that did it.

This is the sway bar "clunk" problem that has been discussed in here several times over that last 12+ months. But his problem claims to be in the trunk??
When performing the sway bar fix you need to make sure to use a torque wrench and not just all your muscle The Saleen instructions that come with the N2 Racecraft kit have these in there. Since there was a problem I would probably go 5-10 lbs over that spec.

Yes, my problem is definetly from the back of the car. I have to say that it sounds more like something is loose around the trunk. Almost as a 'rattling' noise. I have even thought that it might be the license plate frame bouncing against the car or that the trunk is not fully closed where the lid is hitting the trunk itself. It is that kind of noise. I really dont know.
When I check around the car, the wing is fully secure and trunk lid is also secure.

You got me man, probably something very simple and minor & not much to worry about. I have an off road exhuast and added an MTX Thunderform in the trunk so I tend to have other enjoyable noise going on that would drown out any noises like you describe
I do know that my plate frame does rattle on occasion, and the entire blackout piece could be the culprit? But I still wouldn't rule out that tight ass rear suspension and sway bar as the sourse.
