Tire Question - 12/10/2006 10:21:56 PM

I have a 2007 GT California Edition with the factory 18" polished bullitt wheels (currently running 235/50zr-18"). I'm not sure but I think the wheel diameter is 8.5" (maybe someone knows for sure). I like the looks of the factory wheels. However, I want to go with wider tires without messing with the TPMS (tirerack wants $450+ to fit new ones). What tire size options do I have with the stock wheels?

Thanks!
Steve

Your original wheel is a 18 x 8.

You could use a 255/45-18 or a 245/50-18 on those wheels.

Your TPMS is just a band around the center of the rim with a sensor 180 degrees from the valve stem. All it will need is a new strap to remount the sensor and will need to have the sensors retrained. 450 to just mount is really high to me.

Discount tire has straps and cradles for around $50 bucks for all 4 tires up to 22 inch. I put all 4 sensors in a pvc tube with a valve stem in one end. Set the pressure to 32psi. No problems, cheapest way to go.
