I have the same tan top and it is a pita to keep clean. Makes me wish I had a hard top. I scrubbed mine today with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and then hit it with Blue Magic Convertible Top Cleaner and it looks somewhat better but not nearly as clean as I'd like.  Maybe I'll try some mild bleach water on it tomorrow.

I've removed mold from my camper awning with Tilex mildew.  Try it when the top is dry, let it sit a few minutes before you wipe it off.

When I had a vinyl top, I always used whitewall tire cleaner on it.  I forget the brand name of the product, but it worked great....

I was very impressed with the Mother's convertible top cleaner.
Looking forward to trying some of these other suggestions.

I had the same problem with my top a semi stiff bristle brush and simple green does the trick circular motion with a small area at a time and you should be fine

I have that crap show up everyonce in a while, I have a tan top and i just used alot of elbow grease.  I bought a pretty firm brush from autozone and just rub untill goes away.  Usually it goes away in 2 car washes, but then appers again in few month.  what causes that mold to show up:?

My '72 was burgundy with a white top.  It was a stunning color combination but I swore when I sold it I'd never have another white top.  I'm beginning to think the same about tan.  The '05 I test drove yesterday was already scuffed and dirty.  Looks like where it rubs the inner 1/4s as it goes down.  My Sebring did the same thing, except it was a black cloth top--still showed some wear where it had gone up and down.....

Good luck!

As you can see I have the same tan top as Tuhker, and I had the same issue with mold. Well, I bought some Lysol Tub and Tile Clean w/ Bleach, and it worked like a champ. I'm sure Tilex will do the same. Although, don't lay the bottle down on your carpet or you will be in for heartache it it leaks. I should know.

The white top on my 92 GT is showing black spots near the area where it connects to the quarter panel.  Since it is in that area I could assume it's mold.  Granted the top is original from 1992, and should be replaced anyway due to a small tear.  I've tried Simple Green and it didn't really help.  I've even covering it white shoe polish, that just made a mess then next time I washed it!  Maybe some of these cleaning remedies in the meantime.

PS...was the whitewall cleaner Card talking about called Bleache-White?
