If not DR's, then what tire for street/strip?

OK, I'm thinking 275/40/17 tires on 17x9 gray Bullitts on the rear of my 2006. Although I'm willing to get a set of MT ET DR's, is there another DOT street tire that gives good traction at the strip? What hooks well but can be kept on a daily driver?

I havent mounted mine up being winter yet. But cannot wait to try Goodyears new DOT drag radial.
