No its not torn, it simply appears that whatever adheasive is holding it on there from the factory has given up the ghost. I really dont want to ahve to go through the expense of buying a new window and top strip combo, because i think they are integral in the 1996's construction. I just want to use an epoxy or something similar to combat this. The top is in great shape bar this problem.

I just had the same thing happen on my 97 with a vinyl top. I took it to an interior/convertible only shop and they reglued it for $35. It took them a couple of hours and they said it was an automotive silicone sealer.

Mine is doing the same thing, but on all sides, like the top is stretching from the window. Do you think they could glue that?

Thanks, my wifes is doing the same thing. Now I know what to do. Seems like a pretty common problem.
