Hi fellas,

I have a 2006 V6 Premium Mustang with the Pony Package--which I belive comes with the 17" wheels fitted with P235/55 ZR 17 inch tires. So now we are starting to see the first snow flakes of winter here in Detroit, MI, and I am looking to get the winter tires on my car asap.... I went on tirerack and priced out the following:

http://www.tirerack.com/snow/WinterPackageMain.jsp?autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Mustang+Coupe+Pony+Package&autoYear=2006&autoModClar=

It's the Bridgestone Blizzak Revo 1 tires 215/65-16 ($376) + Steel wheels ($216) + the optional wheel covers ($32) = $624 (total)

Firstly, is this a good deal?? Second, do I (or is it a recommended idea) to buy the wheels and tires together, or can I simply buy 17" tires and save money by using the same wheels???? Lastly, does the tread wear out easily on the Blizzak Revo 1?? I was planning/hoping to drive down to Florida in my car using these winter tires from Detroit, and back, and wondering whether the tread would run out real fast if running the tires on the dry roads down south???? Lastly, would regular tire shops (such as GoodYear or Belle Tire) match Tire rack.com's prices????

Would appreciate any help!!!! Thanks much!!!!

It is a great deal. I just installed the same package on my 2006 Coupe. I also ordered the "Tire Garage" to store my Bullit's until Spring. I left out the wheel covers, opted for the "cop car" look.

You could put 17" tires on, but you would expose your rims to tire changes twice a year, not to mention the damage the salt/sand/crud would do to them.

We have had a few snowfalls here in Buffalo since I put them on and let me tell you, the difference is NIGHT AND DAY. The Blizzaks are great so far on hardpacked snow, and on that light "greasy" snowfalls that seem to come just before morning rush hour.

I had the Bullits with Pirelli PZeroNero 235/55/17's on for one light snow before I installed the Blizzaks, and it was like trying to run barefoot on a hockey rink. You'd have to shop around to compare prices, but I couldnt find anyone close to the Tire Rack prices around here. I'd say, get the deal.

Good luck!

The rubber on the blizzaks will burn off quick in warmer temps and dry roads.

You can expect about 15,000 winter miles out of the tires.
