you can re-foam the speaker but it was probably abuse to cause the cracking, or just really old...... I don't see anything wrong with buying used stereo equipment but unless you are a tech that can fix it you do not know what you are getting into.
It's old, i'd go with what i posted you in the other topic. and with eBay you of course never know what your getting into. Yeah you could repair it, how long will it last after that? Thats up in the air. Not saying theres anything wrong with used equipment but when you cant see it until a week after you paid for it...
JL are really good I wouldn't buy that one though, I have had a bunch of JL stuff and never had the surround crack or seperate, major thing is whatever you by remember to give it plenty of power and all JL stuff can be pushed harder than the specs in their books if you go to the website, for example my 8w7 was 300 watts rms recommended but you could push to 600 watts rms and still be under warranty, even further jl said 1200 watts rms for competition use.

Alright! Got my hook up for Christmas! I need to know what wiring kit I'll need for the following. I'll give you the specifics of everything in the system, and we'll see what to do from there! Thanks in advance!
My 'stang also has the ford factory amp that is currently hooked up and running to just the speakers through the HU. I purchased the connector kit to fit it all right, and it's all hooked and running correctly. Will this cause problems with the amp/sub? What kits do I need to buy for this setup? TYVM!
