View Full Version : Vert Windows!
7upedition 12-02-2006, 11:52 AM Doesn't it piss you off when you see people driving around in a 'vert with the top down and all the windows up?[:@] I'm like hey jack@ss it's 40 degrees out, put the top up and crack the window you dum@ss... sorry just had to vent, that really chaps my @ss![>:]
[8D]New Vert section is great!!!! Thanks Mod's!
88ragtop 12-02-2006, 12:00 PM Yea I see people do stupid stuff all the time! I could get on my soapbox all day on stuff like that;)
TPony 12-02-2006, 12:02 PM See it all the time..I just scratch me head and wonder!
GreyStang 12-02-2006, 12:12 PM I think it looks even dumber when guys drive around with their door glass down but have the little rear 1/4 windows up. Now THAT just looks nucking futs [:@]
05SDI 12-02-2006, 12:51 PM Well to defend driving with windows up
First off the stereo sounds much better
In places where speed limits are 55mph for a few miles before it's 35 or less again much easier and quicker to put up the windows instead of putting up the top.
Some of us don't have the fortune to live where 70 degrees is a cool night! Hell here in Alaska 70 degrees is a hot summer day!
Now all that being said I do not drive around with the windows up all the time, but there are time to time that I do.

Damn man, you gotta be a vert person to own one all the way up there. I put mine up if I get a call. Otherwise you can't here a thing. Other then that they are always down.

wythors 12-02-2006, 03:34 PM Betcher wrong! I've owned at least one Mustang for over thirty years.
I'm just funnin' with ya. Don't get your tail in a knot. :D
05SDI 12-02-2006, 05:03 PM LOL it's all good!
fyi We are the 3rd owners of our current '67 GTA and my very first car was a '67 Mustang coupe and that car was about 13 years old back then so hmm I've aged some since then. I guess my first stang was about 35 year ago. So you were not poopin yellow Sorry!
05SDI
vt89gtvert 12-02-2006, 06:32 PM You have both owned stangs for about 10 years longer then i have been alive.

Yup, thats the beaty of it. My first stang was a 67 coupe when it hit 20. doesnt matter how old/young you are, the stang is great!!
mustangman02232 12-03-2006, 01:50 AM not only is it stupid, but theres no support for them when they are all the way up, so if you go fast enough, over time they will slightly warp from the preasure of the air
even if im doing over 100 the windows are down witht the top, only time the windows are up is when my phone rings, or if its below 40 and im on the highway for a brief minute

Holly crap man, that is insane. I would have to have enough clothes on to look like the Michelin man before I would have the top down when the first number in the temp is a 3. I have been know to put it down when it gets back about 50 in the spring, but thats about it.
undecided.steve 12-03-2006, 07:52 PM That must have been me [8D]
Haha!
Actually, 40 is a wee bit too cold for me, but say low 50's with the top down, windows up and the heat full blast is nice and toasty.
I find that wearing a pullover sweatshirt with a hood helps a lot because the air tends to come around and hit me in the back of the neck.
The heat tends to get inside the hood and makes for a toasty ride as well!
Hey, I'm in NY so I have to make the most of my top down days even if it means windows up.
BTW the windows are pretty well supported by the channel on the cowl and the rubber between the back and front windows.
At 100mph though I would start to worry a bit.....
Anything above 60 degrees or so and it's all windows down!!!

You must lead an interesting life to get upset about something like that. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c67/scottrnelson/SM/rolleyes.gif
I often drive with the top down and windows up. There are several reasons for it.
1. It cuts back the sounds of traffic, like when driving next to a semi, a truck with mud tires, and other noisy things.
2. It makes it easier to keep the interior temperature where I want it (hot or cold).
3. It lets the sun in much better than with the top up and the windows down.
And that comment about the windows warping from the practice is pure fantasy. They won't be damaged from the practice.
I keep my top down absolutely as much as possible, but I'll put the windows up or down as the circumstances dictate. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c67/scottrnelson/SM/cool-barf.gif
GreyStang 12-04-2006, 08:40 PM I've tinted my windows so, having them UP with the top down looks even more dorky lol. However I have done it a couple times, especially when trying to impress a hot chick passenger on a cool evening drive ;)

I think we can make an exception in the man law for this one.
I really don't care how people ride in their vert, I just think it looks goofy personally, but it is better then not driving a vert.

I often drive with the top down and windows up. There are several reasons for it. such as you have no balls
1. It cuts back the sounds of traffic, like when driving next to a semi, a truck with mud tires, and other noisy things.i suppose your 6 banger exhaust is too loud too
2. It makes it easier to keep the interior temperature where I want it (hot or cold).again no balls, does it mess your hair up too, girls are the same way
3. It lets the sun in much better than with the top up and the windows down. if the suns out and warrants the windows down chances are its warm enough to have the top down, hate those tan lines huh?
And that comment about the windows warping from the practice is pure fantasy. They won't be damaged from the practice. i agree, but "the practice" what are you some kind of intellect
I keep my top down absolutely as much as possible, but I'll put the windows up or down as the circumstances dictate. bet ya have a whole hand full of wrinkes in it when it is up, huh;)

SSKiller 12-30-2006, 08:11 AM My motors are shot....and I am lazy. I will put in a 351 before I fix the damn windows.
vt89gtvert 12-30-2006, 04:10 PM Yeah, the motors are a little more the $10. But easier to install

the motors? would you say that for all years? or just certain ones, like on the fox platform maybe (79-04)?
93LX5.0L5SpdConv 01-14-2007, 04:27 AM The only time I ride w/ any window up is when I can't find the G****MN $10 nylon gear to fix my F*****G quarter window for the past two+ weeks!
Here's an uncensored update - complete (supposedly) gear rebuild set for $20+s&h from
http://www.lighthills.com/
easter9053 01-26-2007, 09:17 PM Maybe I'm just trying to rush the warm spring weather, but I drive with the top down if the temp is above 50 degrees and the sun is shining while wearing a skull cap and sweater.
