Default Aluminum Floor Jack

I am looking to get a nice aluminum floor jack. I am interested in a couple 1 1/2 ton jacks (jegs, craftsman), or a 2 ton jack from the same company. I can save approx. $90 by getting the lighter weight of the two. Do you guys think it is necessary to get the jack that can lift the extra 1000 lbs?

Thanks for the input!

I would swing for the 2 ton jack.

Your car weighs more than 1 1/2 tons. I know you probably won't be picking up the whole car, but what if down the road you have to lift a big ol' Lincoln or something that weighs over 2 ton?

Plus, a little extra beef never hurt anybody. Might hurt a little in the wallet, but you'll feel more secure with a beefier jack.

And as you probably been told a hundred times (now 101), always use jackstands before going under the car.

If you're going to spring the big bucks for aluminum, then I would go with the 2 ton jack as it will be more useful to you!
